Character: Haseo
Series: .hack//G.U.
Character Age: 17

Canon: The World is a fully-immersive MMORPG that allows its players to experience everything that happens as if it is happening to them. It has become more than just a game, with its players treating it as a second life: while exploring the world and fighting monsters, they also set up shops, go on quests and form connections with one another. It’s truly an online world, and when it is threatened by a virus known as AIDA, The World needs a hero. What it got instead was Haseo, a bitter, lonely antihero on a rampage of revenge to drown out the pain of being abandoned by his friends. Fortunately he undergoes a lot of character development.

After three games of development, Haseo has grown up into the hero The World needs, along with becoming the friend and support that his team needs. Though still prone to being blunt and sarcastic with a quick, fiery temper, Haseo has mellowed out a lot and is far more willing to lend his friends a listening ear when they are in trouble. One trait that Haseo’s always had is loyalty, but now he’s able to admit that he needs friends for strength as much as they need his strength. It’s no wonder he evolves to harem protagonist status by the end of the game.

Note: Locations in The World are named using the theme of [Greek Letter] Word1 Word2 Word3.

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
A few words? All right then. I’m Haseo, the guild master of Canard. Most people know me as the ‘Terror of Death’ and a whole bunch of other titles. I’m not going to recite them all. Look them up. And don’t make a big deal about them either, they were just stuff I had to do. Is that it?

Why are you joining our happy community?
This is Γ Friendship Undead Destruction, isn’t it? Then I’m here for what everyone else is here for: there’s a quest to collect mistletoe and the reward is a rare item that raises all of your stats. I’m surprised not everyone’s here to do it … though, the monsters everywhere make this quest really annoying. They’re very weak, even if there’s a lot of them. I can’t blame anyone who gave up on this quest out of disgust because of the monsters. They really are dumb. What kind of monster moans “braaaaiiiins”, anyway? It’s like they’re from a old horror movie or something.

What do you expect from the campers and counselors here?
Wow, you guys are going all out with this theme. Are there even any zombie movies set at a summer camp? Besides, how should I know what to expect, when I haven’t even met them yet? I told you already, I’m here on a quest, nothing else!

Okay, fine. I don’t know, but I guess they’re like people anywhere: weird and frustrating but … will be there when you need them. Or at least that’s been my experience. Anyway, next question.

Would you be able to dispose of the flesh of the undead? How?
You do realize this is a game, right? You don’t need to dispose of monsters after you defeat them, because they disappear on their own. Come on, why would you even want to know that? Haven’t you ever played a game before?

How do you manage the affections of all of your teammates to make sure no one feels left out?
You’re asking me this? I don’t know! Just answer their emails and don’t tell them to shut up when they want to talk to you about things. It’s not that hard. Just … I don’t know, think about what you’d want if you were them, or something like that.

What would you do if you ran into someone who looked just like you?
Do you mean has the same class as me, or is a completely identical copy of me? If it’s the first … that happens. It’s weird, but you have to get used to it if you want to keep playing. If it’s the second, you gotta either get out of the dungeon or kill it before it kills you. Don’t you read the forums? Something that looks just like you is a really high level monster.

We done yet? I’ve got things to do. Shoot me an email if you have any more questions, or just ask on the forums.
