Character: Takamiya Kaitou
Series: Vampire Knight
Character Age: 22
Job: Ethics Teacher
Canon: Vampire Knight is the story of angsty vampire love triangles, attempts at political vampire shenanigans, and the Hunters who ostensibly keep the vampires in line. Kuran Yuuki and Kiryuu Zero, once childhood friends and prefects at Cross Academy, find their relationship strained when it turns out that Yuuki is not only a vampire herself, but the fiancée of Kuran Kaname, the vampire who orchestrated the ruin of Zero’s life. Political conflicts among the vampires only serve to complicate things even more.
Takamiya Kaitou is one of the Hunters caught in the conflict. As a teenager he killed his older brother, who had been turned into a vampire—an incident which irrevocably shaped his views on being a Hunter. Almost a decade later, Kaitou has grown into a hot(shot) Hunter who’s been assigned to keep an eye on his old friend Zero, a powerful but increasingly unstable Hunter who was turned into a vampire.
Kaitou is a compassionate person who is deeply dedicated to his professional and personal obligations. However, he’s also pragmatic about his compassion, cocky, and just a wee bit ruthless. Nonetheless, despite his brusque, tough-love demeanor, hints of a nascent idealism poke through every now and then. And, though determined to keep Zero sane, he also makes Zero a promise as a fellow Hunter and Zero’s brother-in-arms: if Zero should lose his mind, Kaitou will be the one to pull the trigger, for Zero’s sake and the sake of everyone around him.

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
I'm Takamiya Kaitou, Hunter and temporary teacher of ethics at Cross Academy. If you have any complaints about the second one, take it up with the Chairman.
Why are you joining our happy community?
I've been assigned to keep an eye on Kiryuu Zero. It's a little hard to do that when he's not around.
Why are you a valuable asset to this camp?
I'm young, attractive, dedicated, and multi-talented. I can hunt vampires, pull off flawless headshots, charm students, and grade papers—all in the same day.
What do you expect from your camp experience?
Relaxation. There can’t be too many vampires running around a summer camp.
I fact, I only know of one. But the sun means he won't be going very far, which just makes my job easier.
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
If I couldn't keep my head in a crisis, I’d already be dead. Learning how to keep up when things go wrong is critical for a Hunter. There are always surprises. Usually unpleasant ones.
Would you be able to dispose of the flesh of the undead? How?
…Is the flesh of the undead something I’m likely to encounter in your camp…? I mean, disposing of flesh can't be too hard. Burning would probably work just fine.
What would you consider to be your "soul" animal and why? (this is for purely scientific purposes and will not have consequences during your stay at all. Trust us! :) )
Something impressive and ferocious. Maybe…a bear? No, some kind of dog. A guardian and a hunter both. That’s it exactly.
…Though I have to wonder. What kind of science is concerned with souls anyway?
If there was a good dog and a criminal both hanging from a cliff and you could only save one, which would you save and why?
That depends. If it was a petty thief or something like that, I’d save the criminal and let the dog fall. If it was a serial killer or something, I’d let the criminal die and save the dog. Of course, if that kind of thing can’t be ascertained, I’d still end up saving the criminal, if only so they could face justice.
Do you have a five year plan in mind?
Let’s see if I live another five years first.
What is your job here at CFUD? What do you think that means?
I’m going to be the Ethics Teacher. I’m not sure why a summer camp needs an ethics teacher, but that’s what I’m here to do anyway. If it’s anything like my last job, it’s going to require teaching bored kids about hypothetical ethical dilemmas and marking their terrible papers.
So many terrible papers.
Character: Makoto Naegi
Series: Dangan Ronpa
Character Age: 15
Canon: Kibougamine Gakuen (Hope's Peak Academy) takes the idea of a prestigious academic institution to the next level: It's the prestigious institution to end them all, a crop of high school students who each excel in their respective field. That field could be creative writing, wrestling, or even leading a biker gang, the point is that they are the best of the best. These Super High School Level Students (as the game titles them) are supposedly the hope and promise of the world concentrated in one place. Of course, that goes horribly wrong when a class of bizarrely talented students are imprisoned in the school and told to murder each other in order to escape. Oh, and immediately following a killing the students hold a trial to determine the culprit. If they get it wrong? They all die. Yes, really.
Of all the students, no one is more nervous to be there than Makoto Naegi, the viewpoint character and protagonist. You could call him 'the hero', but he wouldn't describe himself that way. Entering the school by winning a lottery, Makoto has the unusual title of 'Super High School Level Luck'. Given that the situation is less favorable than it appears it could be good or bad luck, depending on perspective. Makoto himself is unsure of how to characterize his luck throughout the game. Surrounded by savants, Makoto describes himself as average in pretty much every sense. He credits himself with a strong sense of optimism, but that's about it. He should give himself a bit more credit though. His everyman quality makes it easy for him to relate to others and make friends, even with his oddball peers. Beyond that, he's actually very observant displaying a knack for the unexpected detective work sprung upon the students, though his naive outlook sometimes trips him up. He might not stick out in a crowd, but after getting past some initial timidity Makoto can be sharp, persuasive, and articulate.

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
I'm Makoto Naegi, I'm fifteen years old and I'm from Japan. I never really know what to say during these things, I don't have a lot to tell about myself. I hope to get along with everyone so please take care of me. It's nice to meet you!
Why are you joining our happy community?
Well, actually, I got an invitation saying I had been lucky enough to receive a free summer camp experience in America! I've never been overseas before and my travels were pre-arranged. It seemed too good to be true. I guess I should consider myself pretty fortunate.
Why are you a valuable asset to this camp?
Ha, I won't pretend I'm the best at anything in particular, that's a lot harder than it sounds. I guess I'd say I have a good attitude most of the time, I think that's something that can help people pretty easily.
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
I hope I don't have to find out… If it came down to it I'd like to think I would do what was needed in that moment. That's the sort of thing it's hard to know about until you're experiencing it firsthand, don't you think? Up until then you just have a bunch of ideas of what it might be.
What if the crisis involved the end of the world? Please explain.
I don't want to think about something like that, if I can be honest. I won't say I haven't thought about it before, I think we all do sometimes, but it's better to think we'll do the best we can and it won't come to that. If it does, it will be bigger than what any one person could handle.
Do you consider yourself squeamish? Please provide an example.
Eh, I wouldn't say I have a taste for dark stuff, but we surprise ourselves with stuff we can handle when we have to. Somethings stay horrible no matter how much you experience them though. I can say that from experience, but I'd like to leave it at that.
If you could get away with committing one crime and suffer absolutely no consequences, what would you do and why?
Um I know that it's a hypothetical, but I just can't imagine it working that way. No crime is perfect, there's always evidence and inconsistencies-- What I mean to say is there's a way to the truth. Even if people bury that truth for awhile, try to obscure it from people, eventually it will come out. There will be others who see that it does. That's pretty dramatic isn't it? I'm sorry, it probably seems like I was trying to sound cool.
Do you find these questions increasingly unnerving? Why/why not?
Well, some of these questions are a little bit personal. They seemed really well chosen for me too… Actually, this question might be the strangest of all. If you know the questions are strange why are you asking them?

Kaitou a lot of your canon was devoted to the machinations of the plot, rather than Kaitou's character or even his backstory really. For example I'd love to know more about his views on hunting, rather than just what caused them. That said you did include a few key traits, but unfortunately I really didn't see any of the deeper emotions you mentioned in the app, and a lot of the answers felt quite short.
