As a general rule of thumb, unless the canon section is describing the plot/character without going into too much detail, it's good to add a spoiler warning tag. Sometimes it's necessary to add those little plot points to let the reader get a good grasp on things, but they might be new or have just forgotten. I will say this though, as someone who's never even heard of the canon before, the app did get me interested.
