Character: Yamazaki Sousuke
Series: Free!
Character Age: 17

Canon: Free! is the story of how a bunch of high school boys strip and then get wet. It's only natural, considering that they're all members of a swim team. The boys of Iwatobi High School and their friendly rivals, the swim team from Samezuka Academy, form bonds with one another to not only compete and get to nationals, but to help each other overcome their own emotional issues.

Yamazaki Sousuke is the childhood friend of Matsuoka Rin. He comes across at first as an incredibly intense individual, and that's entirely correct. He's very straightforward when he speaks but is pretty reserved about his personal issues. Sousuke is devoted to two things: Rin and swimming; so much so that he has strained his shoulder to the point that he is unable to follow his dream of competitively swimming. But that doesn't stop him from joining the Samezuka swim team, as he keeps his injury hidden from the entirety of the team, especially Rin, since he wants to understand the importance of swimming relays with the ultimate relay team. Aside from that, Sousuke can be a bit socially awkward and a dork. He looks rough at first, but as you get to know him, you’ll find that he really does care… in his own way.

Sousuke is being apped pre-Episode 9 of Eternal Summer to match the rest of cast.

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
I have no choice then, huh? Yamazaki Sousuke, third year at Samezuka Academy. I'm a part of the swim team and my specialty is butterfly. That should be enough.

Why are you joining our happy community?
This is some sort of athletic training camp, right? Camp for Unified Development? I heard about it before, that this place is supposed to be really great at training all sorts of athletes. Your brochure said that people come from just about anywhere to use your facilities here. And since there’s a chance that Samezuka might come here to train for regionals, I’m joining for that, to make sure this is the best place for us to come and hone our skills under proper supervision.

Do you expect a lot from the counselors?
You mean the trainers, yeah? They’re here make sure that all the athletes train their hardest without tiring themselves out too much, which is important. If this place is as good as it’s supposed to be, then they’ll make sure that we all train as much as we’re supposed to train and no more. If they push themselves too hard, they won’t be able to do what they did before.

Do you have a five year plan in mind?
A five year plan… Yeah, I guess I had one in mind, but it doesn’t really matter that much anymore. Sometimes things happen that you didn’t count on, and plans need to change. Not every dream of yours will come true. But… there’s still one dream that I want to happen, so I’m going to follow through with that. Once that’s done, well, I’ll come up with something to do.

Can you perform a flawless headshot? If not, and if your life depended on it, how many hours a week would you be willing to spend on the shooting range?
What’s even the point of this question? Is this going to be part of the training? If it’s to help us with our reflexes, then that makes a little sense. I’ve played a few shooting games at the arcade, but not enough to make a headshot. If it’s necessary, then I’ll train as much as I need to make sure that I can do it.

Can you swim? Y/N
Huh…? What’s with that question? I wouldn’t be a part of a swim team if I couldn’t swim.

- Could you still do it under extreme distress? Y/N
… What kind of distress?

-- While dragging someone else to shore? Y/N
So I’m saving someone... Wouldn’t it have been easier to just say that in the first place? But yeah, I think I could do that. I can be a pretty strong swimmer.

--- While something, let’s say a tentacle, tries to drag you under? Y/N
A… tentacle? Like that would ever happen. So, I’m not even going to answer that question.

Any injuries we should be aware of that might affect your stay and that we'll have to accommodate for?
Are you really asking me a question like this after you just asked me that last one? --I think I’ve answered enough questions for now. Are we done? If so, then I’m just going to go ahead and get settled in.

Character: Odin Arrow
Series: Ava’s Demon
Character Age: 18

Canon: It’s 3031, and the future is not bright. TITAN, a religious leader akin to God, conqueror, and CEO, owns much of this half of the universe. His followers fight for his cause, their numbers innumerable. He has his own brand of boarding schools, reading material, and even alcohol. He is quite possibly the most powerful being in the universe. And a few kids and their demons have to take him down. Or rather, Ava Ire has to convince them to. Her soul is bound to a demon named Wrathia, and they have made a pact to fulfill the other’s greatest desire. Wrathia desires to exact her revenge against TITAN. So begins Ava’s seemingly impossible journey to gather a bunch of kids together to kill a god.

One of those unlucky hosts is Odin Arrow, a grumpy, selfish tsundere with aquaphobia and plenty of sass. His demon, Pedri, symbolizes death and pride; the latter of which is a trait that he shares with his human host. Odin is incredibly prideful, thinking himself above shaking someone’s hand. He would rather go down with his ship than admit defeat, even in the most petty of arguments. Despite this, Odin has incredibly low confidence, and he’s very self-conscious. He tries to fight this facet of himself with bravado. Fake it ‘til you make it, right? Pedri has haunted Odin for most of his life, but Odin does his best to ignore him, often smoking a specific flower that allows him to tune him out. A combination of a tragic childhood and dealing with a terrifying demon has made Odin flippant, calm, and cynical. When his calm exterior cracks, he yells and makes totally uncool faces. However, Odin knows when he’s gone too far, and he sometimes tries to make up for it. His nice gestures tend to be awkward and physical, such as an offered jacket or holding someone’s hand when they need it.

Note: Odin stutters (unless he’s lying) and has a rather obnoxious habit of assigning random nicknames to people.

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
. . . I-I’m Odin.

. . . What, did you e-expect a dating profile?

Why are you joining our happy community?
I don’t r-recall agreeing to that. I just . . . left another happy community, and I’m n-not looking to add another one to my l-list. So you can s-spare me the creepy c-cult smiles.

What do you expect from your camp experience?
Wh-what anyone would expect from a p-prison camp: rations, r-religious freaks, and guns being sh-shoved in my face. So all around a good time.

Do you think you are good in a crisis? Perhaps the end of the world? Why?
Give me a gun, and y-you’ll find out.

If it’s s-some apocalyptic bull, though, y-you can count me out. Wh-why would I care? It’s n-not my planet. Someone e-else can play the hero. I’ve got my o-own things to do.

Give it to me straight, Mr. Arrow. What’s with that ring?
Ugh, th-that was terrible. What I w-wear around my neck is n-none of your business. It j-just doesn’t fit me.

Y-you can wipe that l-look off your face. It’s n-not for sale. It’s i-important to me.

If there was a good dog and a criminal both hanging from a cliff and you could only save one, which would you save and why?
The d-dog. It’s l-less heavy, and the dog likely w-won’t stab me once I save it. Th-though even if the criminal was s-small, I’d still ch-choose the dog. You wouldn’t be-believe how violent tiny delinquents g-get when you save the-- Ow!

. . . Okay, m-maybe I’d save them if I nuh-knew them. And if they weren’t so violent.

Can you swim? No. I-I-I’m not going n-near the water.
- Could you still do it under extreme distress? I said n-no. Lay off.
-- While dragging someone else to shore? What p-part of “I d-don’t swim” do you n-not get? If th-they got in the w-water, they should have pr-prepared for the consequences. If th-they’re drowning, they were a-asking for--
--- While something, let’s say a tentacle, tries to drag you under? . . . Wh-what? A . . . t-tentacle? L-like a giant squid? Are y-y-you serious?
---- How would you handle that situation? I’d w-w-atch from the beach, because it w-wouldn’t be my p-problem. Y-you can take your suh-cepha-- . . . seh . . . ceph . . . ss . . . t-tentacles and shove it!

If you could choo--
No. Th-that was me, e-ending this. I’m not d-dealing with a-anymore of your shit. I’m hopping the n-next ship and going h-home.

But I hear you have a habit of wrecking ships, Odin.
Th-that wasn’t my f-f-fault! I wasn’t e-even piloting it! I-- N-no I wasn’t neglecting to c-control my v-vehicle. I was tied-- Stop wr-writing me a ticket! Seriously I-I’m dead enough a-as it is. I e-even lost my gun. A-and also my phone . . . Wh-who told you about th-that, anyway?! W-was it that g-glowing brat, Ava?

. . . Hold th-that thought. I have a l-little sunspot to hang o-off a coat hanger.

Character: Ava Ire
Series: Ava’s Demon
Character Age: 15
Canon: In 3031, TITAN buys you. This never-seen dystopian cult leader rules through fear and control, buying up planets and putting their inhabitants through “re-education” programs. Only the most devout who dedicate their minds, lives, and bodies to TITAN are deemed the Elite and may, with enough sacrifice, eventually enter Paradise. However not all in TITAN’s wake are willing to roll over so easily. Upon her death 15 years ago, a rebel Demon Queen named Wrathia attached her spirit to a newborn named Ava Ire. Now if this poor unfortunate soul ever wants to live a life free of demon influence, she’ll have to fulfill a pact to seek out and unite the Demon Queen’s followers and exact revenge against TITAN…

And Ava is anything but happy about this arrangement. However demon possession tends to put a cramp in your social life so the alternative eventually wins out. Thanks to Wrathia’s behind the scenes influence and havoc-wrecking games, Ava has no friends, no trust, no confidence, and no tolerance for other people. She’s painfully awkward; the new fire-themed abilities that come with her pact and her tendency to seem like she’s talking to herself only make things worse. However she’s stubborn and driven, wanting this life free of Wrathia more than anything. Bitingly sassy commentary, the tendency to leap before thinking, and an unpredictable temper manifest more often as she is forced into contact with the outside world. She’ll have to fake confidence until she makes it, searching for the other demons and the people they’ve made pacts with while trying to survive TITAN and his followers.

Tell us about yourself in a few words.

My name’s Odin Arro--OUCH!

Your real name this time, please.

Who would want to give their real identity in a place like this? I didn’t do anything and you have no right to hold me here. Listen, I have a really important mission so if you please let me out then I’ll find my way through the forest and back to where I need to be.

...

F-Fine! My name is Ava Ire and I’m not crazy. That’s all you get, you foul decrepit old jerk!

Why are you joining our happy community?

As usual, we don’t have a choice, do we? I know that I never asked for this. All I want is to live a normal, quiet life with people who like me for who I am.

...But if I’m going to be stuck here, do you at least have clothes and food? It shouldn’t hurt for me to stay long enough to get that much, right? After that, I’m definitely out of here.

What do you expect from the campers here?

I don’t expect anything from them… I’m sure they’ll all think I’m a freak. They’ll stare and gossip just like everyone else. I don’t think I’ll fit in at all and I’m not sure how to even talk to them. I don’t have any confidence in myself so why should they have confidence in me…?

But if they try to bother me or take my things then I’ll make sure they regret it. There’s a difference between being sure you can’t do something and being a wimpy pushover.

What do you expect from the counselors? The community?

Are they followers of The Director? Because I’ve already dealt with people like that and I’d rather just be on my own than do it again. I don’t want to join a stupid cult and I don’t care about your stupid “community”. Do you realize it sounds even creepier when you call it that? Besides, it’s not like anyone will listen to what I have to say when it comes to changing people or places like this…

We heard that you’re having trouble controlling your new abilities. You’re not going to burn the place down, right? Our insurance deductible is crazy high…

H-hahahaha ha ha w-who told you about that? I have no idea what you could mean. I think you really do have the wrong person after all. Or maybe you got hit really hard and have a concussion? I hear those can make people think crazy things… I don’t have any abilities and I’m really no one special.

So what’s with that box in your chest? Is that a new kind of training bra?

T-That’s personal! You can’t ask someone about something like that! T-There’s no b-box! I’m just a normal person, like everyone else! Mind your own business, pervert!

Are you ready to see Camp, hear Camp, and speak Camp?

...But that’s TITAN’s saying…

I knew it! I knew you were the same! If this is a TITAN Headquarters then I have something I need to do. I’m getting out of this pact as soon as possible and I won’t let some rotting pile of bones stand in my way. Or that gorilla. ...Or the barrier. I’m done with demons, zombies, and these stupid questions!
