Character: Kiryuu Daigo
Series: Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger
Character Age: 20
Canon: You know what really caused the ice age? Asshole monsters. That's what. Yeah, you heard me. The Deboss army to be exact. They invade and try to destroy earth and end up causing the dinosaurs to go extinct, but don't worry because Torin and the Kyoryugers of the past defeat the Deboss army with their dinosaur partners. However, they aren't gone for long because if they were we wouldn’t have a show now would we? But they come back because they're like a pesky virus that you just can't get rid of. So, in the present day world, Torin chooses five new brave individuals to represent the Zyudenryu and become the Zyuden Sentai Kyoryugers, the Bravest of the Braves. Along with their dinosaur partners too, of course.
Kiryuu Daigo is the leader of the Kyoryugers; a well traveled man whose goal is to "walk the path of the dinosaur." This is something he aspires to do because of his father, who left him in the desert when he was a kid with enough money to either go home to Japan or travel like he does walking this path. Daigo of course chooses to travel all over, meeting new people and experiencing new things while in search of this path. This is how he meets Torin, who is impressed by his bravery and makes him KyoryuRed of the Kyoryugers. Daigo is hot tempered, fierce, reckless, strong and honest to a fault. He takes being comrades and a team seriously and is always the first to be the one to hug another person or sob like a little girl. He's also warm, kind-hearted and a jesus who can read other people very well and bring his team together no matter what. All facets of a true leader because as KyoryuRed he's the bravest of the braves.
Sample Entry:
Tell us about yourself in a few words.
Hi, I'm Kiryuu Daigo, but you can call me King! I'm 20 years old and I like traveling. I've been to a lot of places and met a lot of new faces and made a lot of new friends through my travels. It's amazing how big the world is, don't you think? You wouldn't know it, but I'm the type of guy who jumps into every new thing I can. That's why I'm here!
Why are you joining our happy community?
I just told you! I heard about this place through word of mouth. It was like following a trail of jellybeans! A gypsy woman told me about a place called CFUD, Center For Undefeated Dinosaurs. Another muslim man told me about a placed called CFUD, Court For Undefinable Disaster after I traded him a bottle of whiskey and a seashell from Hawaii. Dinosaurs? Disaster? A man like me who walks the path of the dinosaur couldn't resist! So now I'm here!
What do you expect from your camp experience?
Adventure! Fighting! Meeting new dinosaurs! Maybe going canoeing up a river, I haven't done that in a while and figured it'd be a good place to do so. This place has rivers, right?
Why are you a valuable asset to this camp?
I know how to do every odd job available! I've been a handyman, a chef, a waiter, an assistant director, a baker, a photographer, a volunteer at third world countries, a painter, a make-up artist and a lot of other things. I'm sure I have enough talents to share if anyone needs help in anything around here!
What do you expect from the campers here?
To be my friends and work together to make sure everything goes well! I'd like it if my team were here to help, but we kind of split off for a little while to do our own things. So might as well make a new team of people to get things done around here, right? But don’t worry, I sent them all a letter before I came here telling them about this place, so they should get here sometime later!
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
Of course I am! I've saved the world before with my team! I'll be the first one to jump in swinging my fists and using my sword and gun to blast our way to safety!
What if the crisis involved the end of the world? Please explain.
First, we'll have to make sure the kids are safe. The Earth's future is in its children! Then we- oh, wait, you're asking if I'll be good in a crisis like that. Of course I will! I just told you, I've saved the world before with my team!
Do you have any deep personal traumas you might inexplicably be compelled to share in this questionnaire? Please describe.
No? I mean people have told me that my father leaving me in the desert when I was a kid should be traumatic, but he just did what he thought was best for me and I came out of it great! I'm strong and able and I've experienced a lot of things I wouldn't have been able to if I'd just gone home to Japan. In the end, I think it's the experiences you go through that make you who you are and I like who I am right now.
What would you consider to be your “soul” animal and why? (this is for purely scientific purposes and will not have consequences during your stay at all. Trust us! :))
Gabutyra! Well, he's a T-rex with green eyes and because he can become Minityra we can go everywhere together. Which is why I brought him with me here. Say hi to him! Haha, he’s shy, but I’m sure we’ll both have a great time here! Yosh!
Character: Ian Yorkland
Series: Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger
Character Age: 23
Job: Doctor of Love (Only females need apply)
Canon: So here’s a question: What really killed the Dinosaurs? The Ice Age? A meteor? Disease? Actually it was an invasive army known as the Deboss, invading and destroying any planet and wildlife in their way. It wasn’t until Torin teamed up with a group of brave dinosaurs that they were able to defeat the Deboss but, like any good villain, they just wouldn’t stay down for the count. Which leads us to the present, the Deboss are back on the attack and Torin has chosen five individuals who have proven their bravery and, with a dinosaur by their side, become the Zyuden Sentai Kyoryugers; the Bravest of the Braves.
A treasure seeker and casanova, Ian has had many of his own adventures while he explores the more romanticized areas of the world. That is, until the Deboss murdered his good friend, Mifune Shiro while hunting for treasure together. This event leads him to meet Torin and go down the path of the dinosaur, becoming the Hotshot Brave, KyoryuBlack. Seemingly arrogant and haughty at first, Ian has a laid back, carefree demeanour that hides a vast knowledge about dinosaurs and a calculating mind when it comes to battle tactics. Because of what happened to Shiro, he struggles with being open and honest with others, usually keeping things to himself and tending to the hearts of women, making them smile as he buries his own feelings. For a while, he simply refused friendship completely because he felt he would end up failing them. He has a hard time expressing himself genuinely or giving compliments and will instead just say something jokingly rather than be straightforward. Despite that, once you become friends with him, Ian is very loyal and does everything he can to protect the people who are closest to him.
Sample Entry:
Tell us about yourself in a few words. I’m Ian Yorkland. 23 years old. My interests include hunting for treasure and enjoying an evening of good company with the fairer sex at the end of a long day.
Why are you joining our happy community? I wouldn’t say joining at this time. A well known idiot had sent a letter to myself and a few others telling us about this place that he learned through following jellybeans, the advice of people he possibly doesn’t know the names of, and something about a bottle of whiskey. His keyword of ‘dinosaurs’ was in it so it was clear he would be here and, considering we are a team, it’s best to follow the brave leader and make sure he didn’t walk into a trap.
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why? Crisis? Oh my.
Would you be able to dispose of the flesh of the undead? How? That’s an unnerving statement. Is this related to the crisis you just mentioned before? Honestly, I’ve been inside a tomb here and there but, I didn’t touch any dead bodies then and I’d rather avoid having to do so for as long as I possibly can.
Do you find these questions increasingly unnerving? Why/Why not? I did just state that it was unnerving in the last question. At least you’re somewhat self-aware how this is coming across to others. You might want to tone it down a bit to not scare anyone and think that a crisis will happen and we’ll have to dispose of bodies, right? ….right?
What would you consider to be your “soul” animal and why? (this is for purely scientific purposes and will not have consequences during your stay at all. Trust us! :)) See, that’s more like it, up until you said ‘trust us.’ That tends to cause the opposite reaction. Did King answer all these at face value. Did he also answer this one by saying dinosaurs?
If you could choose to bring three objects to a desert island, what would you bring and why? If given the choice and knew I would be stranded, I would want 3 books. One on finding edible plants, one for instructions to purify water and one on how to build a raft.
Can you perform a flawless headshot? If not, and if your life depended on it, how many hours a week would you be willing to spend on the shooting range? Again, we’re back to unnerving. However, I will answer this one and while I’m more adept at shooting at hearts than heads, there is a reason why I’m called the hotshot.
Character: Rippukan Souji
Series: Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger
Character Age: 16
Canon: Once again, the world is in danger, and once again it's up to a team of heroes clad in brightly coloured spandex to save it: The Zyuden Sentai Kyoryugers! Ever since the age of the dinosaurs, the Kyoryugers team have fought the Deboss army: monsters hell bent on destroying Earth, bringing on the ice age while at it, killing all the dinosaurs. So much for that meteor theory. Now with shining new and modern heroes to claim the powers of their predecessors, five youths pick up the pace joining forces with the wise Torin, and the souls of dinosaurs from distant past to vanquish the evil Deboss once and for all.
Despite his colour, the green ranger isn't really a greenhorn. With his cool and composed demeanor, 16-year old high school student Rippukan Souji is a straight-laced voice of reason and a no-nonsense type of person in most situations. Even if it takes him a while to accept the fact that he's stuck with these people that call themselves his friends, he grudgingly does so after a while, and turns out to be sort of a mother hen, though he barely wants to admit it, and can be easily riled up for the sake of his peers. Even if traditional and kind of polite due to his upbringing, he can be kind of standoffish, stubborn and hardheaded, and rarely cracks a smile, (and then sometimes tries to hide it). Despite being the youngest, he's one of the smarter ones in the group, good at offering different types of advice and beating people over the head if they're being idiots. In the end, Souji is a loyal comrade and isn't late to dive in and risk his life for his friends, if need be.
Note: While Deboss is the joint name for the army and it's great leader, "Debo monsters" is the name for the lesser, run of the mill monsters that show up in pretty much every episode.
Sample Entry:
Tell us about yourself in a few words. I don't see why this is necessary, but all right. I'm Rippukan Souji, and I'm a 16-year old high school student. I'm the heir next in line to my family kendo dojo, and as such, I practice kendo, both in school and at home. There, is that enough?
Why are you joining our happy community? Look, I'm not really "joining" your camp. I'm just here to find a friend. I got a letter from my team leader about this place but it didn't say much and to be honest, I have no idea what to expect besides something about dinosaurs and disasters. King isn't someone who'd come up with these kind of things, so I trust him to be right. Anyone could figure out that "disaster" doesn't sound good, and if there's an emergency with dinosaurs of course I'll help fight off any threat. We've fought the Deboss army, so I'm pretty sure we could provide a great deal of support. And "happy camp"? It looks like it's falling apart at the seams...
What do you expect from your camp experience? As I said, I have no idea what to expect, but yelling "Constant vigilance!" at me won't do anything. I'm still not sure what this camp is about, because neither you nor my letter is very informative. But I'll be on guard for anything, and if you won't tell me things, I'll just find out on my own.
… yes, you can stop yelling already.
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why? I'm better than the average person. I'm used to battle and I fight to protect people who can't, so yes, I'd say I'm good in a crisis.
Speaking of crises. Can you swim? Y/N Yes… ?
- Could you still do it under extreme distress? Y/N If I had to, yes, I could do it.
-- While dragging someone else to shore? Y/N Is this some insinuation that it would be needed?
--- While something, let's say a tentacle, tries to drag you under? Y/N All right, unless there is a Debo monster here, this is some stupid joke. And I don't find it funny.
---- How would you handle that situation? Why would there be a tentacle anyway? I don't think there's been a Debo monster with tentacles, so it can't be that. And if there's something sinister in the lake, I'd expect people to not go and swim in it. If some idiots still do, I guess I'll have to deal with it. It's not like I choose who to save and not save. I fight to protect people, so I will.
Do you find these questions increasingly unnerving? Why/Why not? Unnerving might be too simple a word. Try annoying and ridiculous instead. What kind of form is this supposed to be anyway and why do you need to know all of these things? I can understand wanting to know if I can swim or not, but the rest of it makes it sound like you've got your own monsters, or that you need a beach guard.
Do you have any deep personal traumas you might inexplicably be compelled to share in this questionnaire? Please describe. And then you're just jumping from one topic to another. If I have they're none of your business, really. This questionnaire is getting very off track, and I'm starting to think whatever information you've told King isn't reliable, or serious for that matter. If so, I'll just have to beat some sense into him and drag him back home.
If there was a good dog and a criminal both hanging from a cliff and you could only save one, which would you save and why? As I said before, I don't choose who I save. I protect people from harm. But I'd make sure the criminal grabs the dog first, and then I can pull them both up. That way I've technically still only saved one.
What would you consider to be your "soul" animal and why? (this is for purely scientific purposes and will not have consequences during your stay at all. Trust us! :)) I wouldn't trust anyone who puts a smile emote at the end of a sentence like that and call it scientific. It sounds fishy at best, and with all these other questions, I'm not so sure I want to say too much anymore. But fine, I'd have to say Zakutor, because he's my partner dinosaur. A Velociraptor.
Can you perform a flawless headshot? If not, and if your life depended on it, how many hours a week would you be willing to spend on the shooting range? Don't expect me to be Ian and an expert on shooting. I can handle my Gaburevolver, but I'm not a gunman, I'm a swordsman.
… Does it count if I throw my sword? Because I'm pretty sure I could do that.

Ian, I understand that being evasive is a part of his character, but I feel that you could have written tangents and evasions that would still give a little more sense of voice. That what you do have is very dependent on Daigo and the specifics of his app didn't help.
Souji, I'm afraid that while you're canon gave me a great idea of what to look for I couldn't pinpoint anything in the app that felt especially polite, standoffish, but easily flustered-- though I do appreciate that the latter might not come out in a survey.

In any case, I have to admit that I'm curious about the show now, so good job with that.
