Character: Ray Palmer
Series: Arrow
Character Age: Early to mid 30's.
Job: Attractive Teacher Of Mechanics.
Canon: Arrow is the story of Oliver Queen, coddled multimillionaire accidentally turned trained assassin and later city vigilante. He fights crime and tries to make Starling City a better place.
Enter Ray Palmer, ridiculously rich visionary who also wants to make Starling a better place, but who has a much more optimistic approach to it. Ray buys out Oliver's company and turns it into Palmer Technologies, his mission being to make the city better through technological advances. Ray also makes himself an exosuit, intent to use it to protect the innocent citizens from criminals.
Ray is at first glance a ridiculously cheerful, friendly guy. But behind his cheerful demeanor, there’s a very intense workaholic who is very serious about making things better for people. After tragically losing his girlfriend, he decided he’d do everything in his power to save others that kind of loss. And he’s standing by it, he’s a very noble guy, willing to sacrifice himself for others without batting an eye.

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
My name is Ray Palmer! I'm a scientist-slash-engineer-slash-designer, not a good designer, but I make up for it by being great at the other two. My focus right now is nanotechnology. I mean, I sell smart watches, but the plan is to do nanobiotechnology (how long can a word get before it starts being a word, right?). I just figured out how to make an airborne vaccine using nanotech, which was awesome.
It's also how zombie movies start, but I promise I was really really careful.
Why are you joining our happy community?
Well, I spent a day here some time ago? You have this barrier and I'm very interested in the energy source. If I can figure it out and harness it or replicate it, it'd benefit my research immensely.
I wouldn't try to take it down or anything, though, it seems whatever bubble universe this place is in relies strongly on it. Bringing it down could be catastrophic; no one likes huge explosions.
... well okay, I like huge explosions but only when nobody is getting hurt. Something blowing up is a good indicator of progress! I know this from experience.
What do you expect from your camp experience?
Science? That's about it, really, I'm here to do research. Not that I'm a boring guy, I can do other stuff. I'm great at racquetball. I can have fun.
Why are you a valuable asset to this camp?
Uuuuh. I'm a doctor? Not a medical one, but I can help out if you're short-staffed. I also have money, that tends to be helpful. I can write you a check right now.
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
I've been gradually improving, yeah. You know that airborne vaccine I mentioned? I had like, I don't know, a few hours to come up with it? And I didn't make any zombies, knock on wood.
What if the crisis involved the end of the world? Please explain.
This was the end of a city, I guess end of the world would be more motivating.
Would you be able to dispose of the flesh of the undead? How?
I didn't make zombies. Did you make zombies? Why? What part of 'zombie' sounded like a good idea?
Do you find these questions increasingly unnerving? Why/Why not?
I'm not gonna lie, the zombie thing is pretty alarming.
What is your job here at CFUD? What do you think that means?
Advisor of some kind? I can… make science fairs, encourage kids to try it out. Maybe we can have safe, controlled explosions. Kids love that kind of thing.
