Character: Yoko Minato
Series: Kamen Rider Gaim
Character Age: 28
Job: Bad Choices in Life Counselor (because life’s a peach)
Canon: The Helheim Forest, an invasive species that spreads at an accelerated rate of growth, infecting anyone who would eat the fruit and turns them into carriers so more seeds can grow. It can take over worlds and has set its sights on Zawame City. The Yggdrasill Corporation placed within that city secretly studies the forest in hopes to find a viable way to progress humans above the threat of Helheim and prevent the end of the world. However, some have discovered the truth of Helheim; the forbidden fruit. Whoever can fight and obtain this fruit will be able to control the forest and create a new world in their image.
Corporate spy-turned-bodyguard for Yggdrasill’s top scientist, Yoko Minato walks the path towards the forbidden fruit but does not wish to obtain it herself. Instead, she wants to be the king maker and help pave the way for the person that she has deemed to be the one who should rule the world. A skilled fighter, somewhat arrogant about her skills and keeping her cards close to her chest, she obediently follows through with the instructions given to her, whether it be espionage or aggressively beating someone down until they can’t move. Despite only speaking up when necessary and keeping mostly to herself, once she finds that person who she thinks is worth following, she is determined to help see their goals through to the end.
Sample Entry:
Tell us about yourself in a few words.
To simply say, my name is Yoko Minato and I have worked for Yggdrasill. If you are not aware of what that means, Yggdrasill was a progressive conglomerate in charge of all aspects of human welfare. That should be all that is necessary for you to know.
Why are you joining our happy community?
Why indeed. Isn't that something you need to ask yourself instead? I know why I'm here so, really, ask yourself what it is that you have to offer this encampment and maybe you'll find your answer there.
What do you expect from the campers here?
I don’t expect anything unless I see for myself something worth looking at. They need to show me their ambition, that they are willing to fight for what they desire and do what it takes to obtain that power to be beyond that of any other human. I’m not interested in anything less. If you cannot show me that you possess that ability to overcome anything in your way then you’re better off staying where you are.
Would you be able to dispose of the flesh of the undead? How?
If it is something that has to be done, then it should be disposed of efficiently and without hesitation. Would you rather let it sit there and rot? If your choice is to leave it then you don't possess the necessary traits to become anything more than what you currently are.
Can you perform a flawless headshot? If not, and if your life depended on it, how many hours a week would you be willing to spend on the shooting range?
If my life depended on whether or not I could, I would expect the assailant to be intending their attacks would kill me. They would not be so willing to stop and act like a piece of plywood to make any practice at a shooting range worth the time.
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
Yggdrasill was the one controlling the city. Which, of course, means that many rival groups were trying to dethrone the ones who are at the top. Instead of fighting in a crisis, isn’t it better to stop these obstacles before they can create the crisis? That is simply business. Along that train of thought, preparations and backup plans are of course implemented. Just in case it does come to that point where a crisis is unable to be stopped. I have enough experience to handle both instances.
What if the crisis involved the end of the world? Please explain.
Again, that comes with having experience on the matter. What would you do at the end of the world were to happen to this place? Would you use your ability to change the outcome? At the end of the world, those who are weak will perish and those who are left standing atop those ruins will remake the world in their image. Do you believe you are able to trample over any obstacle and rule that world? Then show me what you’re capable of.
Character: Takatora Kureshima
Series: Kamen Rider Gaim (Wiki)
Character Age: 26.
Job: Big Brother
Canon:
What would you do if you knew the end of the world was coming? For most heroes, the answer would be a head-on fight, but other forces are at work trying to save humanity through science and technology. It’s this behind-the-scenes path that leads to the development of weapons made from the same forest threatening to destroy the Earth that may ultimately save the day. But first, they have to get into the hands of a bunch of street dancers.
In order to save as many humans he can, Takatora Kureshima has dedicated his life to researching the forest taking over the earth and overseeing the creation of a technology that would allow him to keep humanity alive. There are sacrifices involved, but for Takatora the ends justify the means and he is a man who gets things done. He was raised with lofty ideals and the will to sacrifice himself in the name of the greater good. More importantly, he has the money and aura of authority to bring the best talent to his side. Yet his ideals and attitude keep him from some of the realities of the fight he’s in. An almost naive trust in everyone around him leads Takatora to betrayal from those closest to him. Including his own brother.
Sample Entry:
Tell us about yourself in a few words.
My name is Takatora Kureshima and I am the head of Research and Development at the Yggdrasill Corporation. I was the one you contacted earlier about combining some of my company’s means with your unique technology. I have experience with mentoring young talent and I would make a good addition to your team.
Why are you joining our happy community?
My department is currently looking for a new big project and I was told that if I mentored some of the youth here for a few months, I would be allowed to see more of the interdimensional travel mechanisms used to bring people in and out of this encampment. I would be very interested in comparing notes.
What do you expect from the campers here?
I expect that they will be attentive to their counselors and happy to be here. It’s not every day that you get to experience a place like this and they should be grateful to share in the Director’s generosity. She has clearly spared no expense in getting exotic plant and animal life to enhance the experience. How many other summer camps would let you interact with toucans?
What do you expect from the counselors?
The other counselors should be there to help the campers. Ideally, we would all be there to make sure the children get the most out of their experience, either by mentoring as I intend to do or through teaching classes and special skills. No one would have come all this way just to complain about the food and stare at the lake all day.
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
I have been preparing mentally and physically for all sorts of crises. There’s no way to be prepared for everything, but if you minimize the risks you understand and can predict it will make true emergencies far rarer. I’m sure your camp runs much the same way. If a camper were to break their arm you would know what to do, and it wouldn’t be difficult to deal with. You can save the real crises for if, say, a giant squid attacks.
What if the crisis involved the end of the world? Please explain.
My answer above still stands. The end of the world doesn’t have to be an unexpected emergency.
