Character: Chino Tomoki
Series: Piece ~Kioku no Kakera~
Character Age: Mid 20s
Job: Camp Reporter

Canon: Men have been found mysteriously petrified and shattered. The only connection the deaths appear to have is the "Woman of Gorgon," an unknown dark-haired person with purple eyes and dressed in white. Chino Tomoki is a reporter for a small magazine company. Ever since the death of his girlfriend, Tomoki's life has been a downward spiral. When word gets to him about the Woman of Gorgon, he finds himself investigating the murders, noticing the similarities between them and his lover's death. With the help of a freelance photographer name Rei, he begins to unlock the mystery behind the unusual events.

Tomoki is an intelligent and talented reporter who knows how use his connections and skills to get the information he needs. He’s analytic, observant, and his determination has him acting more like a detective then a reporter. However, due to his emotional investment, Tomoki can also be stubborn and easily gets angry. While he’s surrounded by people who genuinely care for him, he keeps his feelings guarded. He does appreciate them and their help but he can’t help but draw away. Overall, Tomoki is nothing more than your average guy with ‘special circumstances.'

Sample:

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
Chino Tomoki, magazine reporter. A lot of the stories I write aren't interesting, mostly rumors my editor hears about and sends me out to investigate. I used to take on dangerous jobs and while they weren't worth the risk on my life, I had my reasons.

Why are you joining our happy community?
It's strange. I got a letter congratulating me on my new job at Camp for Unaccredited Detectives. I don't remember applying. Sure the pay for my current job isn't the greatest but I'm managing perfectly fine. However, when my editor found out, he told me to go for it, said I can gain experience and learn something new here. I have to admit, working in a different country sounds interesting.

Why are you a valuable asset to this camp?
I did some research on this place. Stephan Debussey, Director Elizabeth Sayre’s fiancee, was murdered. There's no hint on a suspect nor why or how. Elizabeth has even taken matters into her own hands and trying to solve the case herself.

I plan to write a story about this, maybe I can help Elizabeth find a lead. After all, I can empathize with her. I know what it's like to not know exactly what happened to someone you care for deeply. To completely forget about doing the things the right way because not only does it take longer but you're not really told everything. Usually, it's the best way to go. It's how I finally turned around my last case.

Have you committed any crimes you were or should have been convicted from?
Yes and no? It's a long story involving people turning into stone and loss of memory. Also, it really doesn’t count if you’re being physically controlled, but that’s really none of your business. Are we quite done here?

How would you deal with someone falling apart on you?
Apparently, we're not. I’m not going to answer this. None of this has anything to do with my--

We hear you have experience dealing with rigid people. Is there any tips you can give us?
--I don't know what sick joke you're playing but I don't appreciate your twisted sense of humor. I’m not here to deal with your ‘stiff’ problem. You handle that on your own.

Character: Rei
Series: PIECE ~ Kioku no Kakera
Character Age: around mid 20’s
Job: Official Photographer

Canon: Chino Tomoki has found himself right in the middle of a strange string of deaths called "The Gorgon Murders". All of the victims are found turned to stone with no hint as to how, why with all of the victims varying in age, gender, and orientation. With the help of a mysterious cameraman named Rei, Tomoki is out to find his lost memories of his girlfriend's death and solve the mystery surrounding these weird murders.

Rei is notorious in the reporting world. He secretly photographs crime scenes the police don’t want the public to know and auctions off both the photos and information for cash. Normally a very calm and passive man, he can come off as teasing or cheeky when the moment suits it. Most of what drives him into action are his goals. If he sets his mind to doing something, he wants to accomplish it by any and all means. He can be very accommodating despite his goal-orientated attitude, doing what’s the most satisfying for everyone around him when it doesn’t interfere with what he wants. Rei himself also has a secret in that he has four other personalities he tries to keep control of.

Jin is a thief. Loud and brash, he sees absolutely nothing wrong with telling people exactly what he thinks and getting angry at the drop of a hat. Feelings is something he’s not very good at though. Aya is a doctor, and the female personality. She acts as a peacekeeper of the group, nurturing and soothing them with her mother-like touch. Yuu is a personality that’s around 10 years old. He can be a crybaby when bad things happen. He likes playing games and helping others. Lastly there is Ken, the scientist. He's a very quiet and methodical man. Emotions take a backseat to logic and curiosity. He likes the simple things best, as they do not interfere with time better spent on working.

(Note: The personalities are fully aware of each other)

Sample Post:

Tell us about yourself in a few words.

My name is Rei and I’m a freelance photographer. I would guess you’ve heard of my work if you want to hire me as a counselor for this so-called summer camp. I double as a hacker in my off time, but that’s nothing really interesting. Is there really anything else to say? I like to sell photos and information in my spare time for extra money, but I’m sure a place like this won’t have any reason for me to continue that, right?

Why are you joining our happy community?

You are the one hiring me, aren’t you? I have no reasons for joining other than the pay. One does have to wonder however, are you sure you want me as your photographer? I’m sort of a random choice and I don’t have any real experience handling children or large groups of people. There’s also the fact I come with a lot more extra baggage than most others you probably hire. If you’re sure you want me, I hope you’re prepared.

Do you consider yourself squeamish? Please provide an example.

Oh no, not at all. Sometimes people get badly hurt and you must get over the way it looks in order to provide care for them. Like when our hand was partially turned to stone and Ken peeled away parts of it for research. The look was rather gruesome, but I still took care of it the best I could. I really wouldn’t suggest requesting to look at it if that’s not your thing. It’s terrible.

Have you committed any crimes you were or should have been convicted from?

What’s it to you?! The past is the past, ain’t it? Don’t go delving into things you don’t have any business knowing. The application says it all, doesn’t it? You can’t punish the many for the deeds of the one or something like that. I’ve taken some things and swindled a few people, sure. It doesn’t mean anything though. Get off my back.

Do you have a five year plan in mind?

Five years? I can’t think that far ahead. What a weird question to ask a kid. Oh I know! I want to play games with everyone and make more friends. You can meet new people in a camp, right? I want to play games and eat a lot of sweets. It would be even better if there wasn’t any mean people to yell at me. That would be the best.

Would you be able to dispose of the flesh of the undead? How?

Why would I dispose something so precious? Can you even phantom all of the information you can learn from examining just a piece of flesh? The stories it could tell? I would much rather keep it on my person in a safe container so that I may examine it later. If they have already departed this life, a sample of their person hurts no one, correct?

Are you lying on any of your previous answer?

Not at all. We have no reason to lie. I think the better question now is are you positive you want to hire me after seeing all of this? I can’t promise it will always be this calm.

Character: Kusanagi Izumo
Series: K
Character Age: 26
Job: Bartender

Canon: In a world not so different from our own, save for the existence of seven Kings with unfathomable power, the schoolboy known as Shiro is pinned with the grisly crime of murdering one of a King’s vassals. Caught between the clansmen seeking revenge, a mysterious government unit hot on his trail, and a young samurai following his master’s last order, Shiro’s forced to defend his innocence while playing a complicated game of cat and mouse with the kings and their men. What exactly is going on, who’s really pulling the strings, and why is Shiro at the center of it all in the first place?

Kusanagi Izumo is the second in command of HOMRA, the group under one of the aforementioned kings. The owner of the bar HOMRA uses as its headquarters, Kusanagi runs a tight operation of not exactly legal backroom deals that keeps the group in the black. While appearing as the cool, confident mouthpiece of the clan, Kusanagi is the one that people come running to when there’s a problem. He can still be very intimidating when the boys under him start to get out of line, however, and isn’t afraid to get rough with them. Arguably the most mature of the group, Kusanagi is interested in culture and art, is adept with communicating with people, and also known as something of a flirt. He genuinely cares for his friends and clan, and won’t turn them down when they’re in need.

Sample Entry:

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
Kusanagi Izumo, twenty six years old, at your service. I come from Shizume City, Japan, where I run a popular bar. It is a bar, there are some weird rumors out there about it being something else, but they aren’t worth listening to. It’s just a nice place to come in, relax, and have a few drinks. You won’t find better service anywhere else, or a better bar; I had it imported from an old English pub. I’ll admit it’s seen some wear since coming into my position, but that’s … ah, part of the charm, isn’t it?

Why are you joining our happy community?
I’ll admit, I thought it was a little weird asking for a bartender at a summer camp. I don’t serve anyone underage, or anyone who’s too short to be drinking in the first place. But I guess all the counselors have to let off all the steam somewhere, and it’s not just a good bartender’s job to serve drinks. Talking to people and listening to their stories, their problems, that’s part of it too. I’ll do my best to hear your problems and give advice, like any good bartender would.

What do you expect from your camp experience?
Lots of kids, right? You’d be surprised, but I have some experience there too. As long as they don’t get too rowdy, I’m sure we’ll all get along fine. If there are a few who try to make trouble, ah … I’ve got ways to deal with it, you know? It’s best to nip that kind of behavior in the bud, unless you want them to grow up into unmanageable adults. Don’t worry, I won’t get too rough with anyone who doesn’t deserve it.

Can you swim? Y/N
Sure, I haven’t gone in while, but I know how.

- Could you still do it under extreme distress? Y/N
Extreme distress? Probably, it might depend on the exact circumstances.

-- While dragging someone else to shore? Y/N
That’s troublesome, but I could manage. Everything weighs less in water, so I’d have an easier time than dragging someone from the shore.

--- While something, let’s say a tentacle, tries to drag you under? Y/N
This is getting kind of specific, isn’t it. I’ve never been in that kind of situation before, so it’s hard to say. I’ll go with yes.

---- How would you handle that situation?
That’s not the kind of thing I think about usually, but since you’re asking … the easiest way would be to dispose of whatever was trying to drag you under, right? Nothing trying to drag you under, no problem in the first in the place. I could manage that, if I needed to.

Have you committed any crimes you were or should have been convicted from?
Why, of course not. You wouldn’t want such an unscrupulous criminal running around a children’s summer camp, that would just be irresponsible, especially on the part of the person who invited them! If such a thing were to happen, whoever hired them on would get in just as much trouble, you know. Anyway, to get convicted of something in the first place, you have to be charged with a crime. That’s what I’ve heard, anyway. Nothing like that’s ever happened to me, so how should I know?

Are you lying on your previous answer?
Now, why would I lie to you about something so serious? If it were anything that would stop me from doing my job properly, I’d say so.

Kusanagi!!

That was an all in. Tomoki, I wibbled on yours because missing words and odd phrasing really tripped up the flow for me in places, but I liked the voice, so.
