Trails in the Sky starts out innocently enough as Estelle Bright and her adopted brother, Joshua, become junior members of an elite independent organization of peacekeepers and problem solvers known as the Bracer Guild. As they work their way through missions and up the ranks to become Senior Bracers, they travel across the country, engage in daring rescues, make unusual and powerful friends, and lightly touch upon some burgeoning romantic feelings. And then they stumble upon a sinister plot that could bring the entire kingdom to the brink of chaos. With the help of people they have met along the way and a great deal of luck, somehow they’ll pull through and save the day.
The epitome of a tomboy, Estelle Bright is an energetic whirlwind of activity that sometimes leaves others in the dirt. She is full of good intentions and is always willing to offer her help when she finds someone in trouble. Did you hear they’re setting up a Bracer Guild branch? The CFUD Branch Bracer Guild, I’m a representative for it! Here to help keep things safe and help people! I wasn’t intending on coming here, but I guess there’s a major monster infestation in these parts and the camp here needs all the help it can get.
So here I am, ready to kick some monster butt and reap the rewards of exploring someplace I’ve never been before. Not actual rewards! It’s the reward of experience which leads to my growth as a Bracer and enables me to be a bigger help in the future!
What do you expect from the campers here?
Everyone has their own personal lives and experiences to deal with no matter how old are they so it isn’t okay for me to hold expectations for them when I don’t know them yet! But I hope all the campers here can get along and if they have any requests - like finding their missing cat or helping build a tree fort - they can feel free to come to Bracer Estelle Bright to help them. I’m around their age after all!
What do you expect from the counselors?
I guess you do need expectations for these guys after all, don’t you? They’re the ones that need to be reliable and supportive. They should be responsible and take care of all the kids here, ensuring that they’re safe and happy. And if the campers aren’t happy, the counselors need to be around to lend a supporting ear and help them sort their problems out. You have to be able to handle a position like that seriously but manage to have fun too!
And safety comes first so they need to report monster sightings to me immediately!

If I’m trying to swim someone to solid ground, their safety comes first. I would cast a quick fire art and use whatever time that gave me to get them out of the way. And then I would fry the monster that was attacking us!
If there was a good dog and a criminal both hanging from a cliff and you could only save one, which would you save and why?
I would save both. You could see it as one is just an animal or that’s a bad guy, but to write either of them off like that is plain awful. Dogs are smarter than they look and it could be someone’s faithful companion! And that criminal could have a heart of gold, he just made bad decisions and got caught up in a wrong crowd.
To look at either one and go ‘this one is worth more than the other’ - I won’t do that. I’m sure if I put my mind to it, I would find a way to save both. No matter what!

Series: The Basketball Which Kuroko Plays
Character Age: 16
Canon: Sometimes life throws high school students into life or death situations! And sometimes high school students just use hyperbolic language like "Come at me as if you mean to kill me!" during basketball matches. The Basketball Which Kuroko Plays is full of dramatic proclamations of burning shounen spirit and boys crying over sports. The plot is essentially Kuroko's former team were so good at basketball they were called the Generation of Miracles and everyone became a jaded asshole and now it's Kuroko's job to punch them in the face until they stop being jaded assholes.
Akashi Seijuurou isn't just one of those former teammates - he's Kuroko's former team captain. Short - for a basketball player - Akashi carries himself as if he is 8 feet tall and can carry the world in his hand. Akashi operates on the idea that victory is pre-ordained and those who get in his way and can just go die. He tosses phrases like "Victory is everything" and "If you defy me, I will kill you, even your parents" around as if they were common platitudes and not some kind of egotrip. On one hand, Akashi doesn't allow* people who are disobedient to look down on him (both metaphorically and also in a purely literal sense as almost everyone in the series is taller than him). On the other, for those who pass his extremely strict quality control he will treat better and more intimately **. When not being a crazy person Akashi has a somewhat distant way of speaking - it's like polite distance with a little more edge to it.

It seems as though some of my former teammates have found themselves in your hospitality. While they are no longer my responsibility it would be remiss to abandon them in such a place. Which is to say, rather plainly, that I find your accomodations somewhat lacking. Your 'happy community' could use several improvements. Since I've decided to grace your 'community' with my presence I'm sure we can go over my list in detail at a later date.
The first item, however, would be that you should remove that obnoxious thing that serves as a Public Address system. I strongly suggest that you cut it down. The purpose of a Public Address system is to convey communication clearly to the masses and after some personal experience I would say that yours receives a failing grade. You will find that insulting newcomers is unproductive. In the event that you decide to ignore my recommendation then I will sort out the problem personally.
What do you expect from the campers here?
Nothing less than absolute obedience.
What do you expect from the counselors?
Despite whatever implications the divide between counselors and campers seems to have set up I also expect obedience from the counselors as well. Undoubtedly some of you have pride in your position of authority, for which I congratulate you. If we come to a disagreement over this I'm sure that we can come to a conclusion that will benefit all involved. Essentially: You will accept your place beneath me.
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
Of course. There's no need to explain myself further, you should simply take my word as truth. While some are full of bravado and false promises I am not. With constant victory comes nothing more than affirmation of my truth. Isn't that a comforting thought?
Do you like dogs?
Dogs? I like them well enough. A well behaved dog is a worthwhile investment. However, I have no use for a disobedient dog. You could say they're a little like people in that respect. I have no use for those who stand against me.

Series: Last Exile
Character Age: 17
Canon: Warfare on Prester is conducted by flying steampunk ships. The “Exile” is said to be a legendary weapon traveling the Grand Stream, a violent band of storms separating two opposing factions. Claus Valca and Lavie Head take on missions as civilian sky couriers and by accident they are landed with the dangerous task of delivering a girl named Alvis to an elusive battleship in the midst of a fight. Alvis turns out to be the key to control the Exile, which ends up bringing an end to the conflict. After escaping the war torn Prester, Claus and his friends find themselves back on their original world Earth, trying to rebuild the home they lost in the struggles. On the ground, Claus Valca is the least threatening presence you will encounter; he’s laid back, mild, carefree, sometimes kind of dense and clumsy. His biggest wish is for the skies he flies in to be peaceful for him and those he considers his friends and family. He’s extremely protective of them and in many cases empathetic towards his adversaries. His kind sincerity can make him gullible and at times even frustrating (like when he chooses not to eat to save on food), but much like the feelings he harbors for his loved ones, those who know him feel just as strongly about him. In the air he’s determined and bold, always relying on his instinct rather than working out a plan. He’s sincere and passionate about overcoming hurdles and once he sets a goal for himself, he sees it through to the end no matter how impossible it may seem. Even through war, even through injury that stops him from being able to fly, Claus never loses that optimism that he’ll be able to share the open, free skies with the rest of the world.

Uhm... hi. My name is Claus Valca. I pilo— no, I used to pilot a vanship as a courier for the Norkia Vanship Union on Prester. Unfortunately, I was in an accident so I can’t fly right now but I’m sure I’ll get better in time. I’m getting treatment for my disability and I like keeping my hopes up that it’ll be alright.

I was invited as a “vanship veteran in early retirement” to an event at… C-F-U-D? The “F” must stand for “Flying”, I’m sure. Why else would I be invited? Though I wouldn’t want to consider myself retired just yet, I’m sure I’ll be back in the air soon. I guess I’ll just see what this is all about. I came all this way, so it’d be a waste to go right back home again. There’s someone that would really kill me if I recklessly spent money like that, haha.
What do you look forward to in this weekend’s CFUD program?
I don’t really think I can participate in it, seeing as I’m in a wheelchair like this. But of course, it’ll be fun to meet people like myself who love to fly. I see that a lot of folks are already here for the program. Even though... a lot of them don’t look fit to fly. I mean, they’re shuffling about and some are even missing limbs...
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
I’m not quite sure what others would say about me, but I know I would try to the best of my abilities to help whatever crisis it is. I’m not going to back down from something because it seems impossible. If I can contribute, I will and if there’s a way to solve it and make sure no one gets hurt, I’ll find it.
What if the crisis involved the end of the world? Please explain.
In my old home I already fought in battles to protect the people important to me. In the end it turned out alright, for the most part. It’s been a while though, and a lot of stuff has happened since then. I... try to help whenever I can, but I wish I could do more.

They’re a little strange, I admit, but I’m sure they’re not meant to be. It’s a new place and I’ve met stranger people with stranger customs. I’m probably misinterpreting things, if anything.

No. I think I’ve managed to come out of everything pretty well, considering. I never liked the battles but I couldn’t just stand by and watch, if I could help it. I just want to protect everyone.

Um, well... it’d be nice to be able to fly again and maybe participate in another race. I guess I haven’t really thought about it too much. I’ve been told I’m not too good at planning ahead. For now... the beds here look really comfortable, though. I hope I can take a nap after this, I’m getting a little sleepy.

Canon: Warfare on Prester is conducted by flying steampunk ships. The “Exile” is said to be a legendary weapon traveling the Grand Stream, a violent band of storms separating two opposing factions. Claus Valca and Lavie Head take on missions as civilian sky couriers and by accident they are landed with the dangerous task of delivering a girl named Alvis to an elusive battleship in the midst of a fight. Alvis turns out to be the key to control the Exile, which ends up bringing an end to the conflict. After escaping the war torn Prester, Claus and his friends find themselves back on their original world Earth, trying to rebuild the home they lost in the struggles. However, an unfortunate injury binds Claus to a wheelchair and renders him unable to keep flying. He’s forced to sit back on the sidelines, watching the clash between the factions Ades and Turan (and everyone else), over the limited resources of the new world.
On the ground, Claus Valca is the least threatening presence you will encounter; he’s laid back, mild, carefree, sometimes kind of dense and clumsy. His biggest wish is for the skies he flies in to be peaceful for him and those he considers his friends and family. He’s extremely protective of them and in many cases empathetic towards his adversaries. His kind sincerity can make him gullible and at times even frustrating (like when he chooses not to eat to save on food), but much like the feelings he harbors for his loved ones, those who know him feel just as strongly about him. In the air he’s determined and bold, always relying on his instinct rather than working out a plan. He’s sincere and passionate about overcoming hurdles and once he sets a goal for himself, he sees it through to the end no matter how impossible it may seem. Even through war, even through injury that stops him from being able to fly, Claus never loses that optimism that he’ll be able to share the open, free skies with the rest of the world.

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
Uhm... hi. My name is Claus Valca. I pilo— no, I used to pilot a vanship as a courier for the Norkia Vanship Union on Prester. Unfortunately, I was in an accident so I can’t fly right now but I’m sure I’ll get better in time. I’m getting treatment for my disability and I like keeping my hopes up that it’ll be alright.
Why are you joining our happy community?
I was invited as a “vanship veteran in early retirement” to an event at… C-F-U-D? The “F” must stand for “Flying”, I’m sure. Why else would I be invited? Though I wouldn’t want to consider myself retired just yet, I’m sure I’ll be back in the air soon. I guess I’ll just see what this is all about. I came all this way, so it’d be a waste to go right back home again. There’s someone that would really kill me if I recklessly spent money like that, haha.
What do you look forward to in this weekend’s CFUD program?
I don’t really think I can participate in it, seeing as I’m in a wheelchair like this. But of course, it’ll be fun to meet people like myself who love to fly. I see that a lot of folks are already here for the program. Even though... a lot of them don’t look fit to fly. I mean, they’re shuffling about and some are even missing limbs...
Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
I’m not quite sure what others would say about me, but I know I would try to the best of my abilities to help whatever crisis it is. I’m not going to back down from something because it seems impossible. If I can contribute, I will and if there’s a way to solve it and make sure no one gets hurt, I’ll find it.
What if the crisis involved the end of the world? Please explain.
In my old home I already fought in battles to protect the people important to me. In the end it turned out alright, for the most part. It’s been a while though, and a lot of stuff has happened since then. I... try to help whenever I can, but I wish I could do more.
Do you find these questions increasingly unnerving? Why/Why not?
They’re a little strange, I admit, but I’m sure they’re not meant to be. It’s a new place and I’ve met stranger people with stranger customs. I’m probably misinterpreting things, if anything.
Do you have any deep personal traumas you might inexplicably be compelled to share in this questionnaire? Please describe.
No. I think I’ve managed to come out of everything pretty well, considering. I never liked the battles but I couldn’t just stand by and watch, if I could help it. I just want to protect everyone.
Do you have a five year plan in mind?
Um, well... it’d be nice to be able to fly again and maybe participate in another race. I guess I haven’t really thought about it too much. I’ve been told I’m not too good at planning ahead. For now... the beds here look really comfortable, though. I hope I can take a nap after this, I’m getting a little sleepy.
What would you consider to be your “soul” animal and why? (this is for purely scientific purposes and will not have consequences during your stay at all. Trust us! :))
I have never thought about that before. Maybe... a koala bear? I hear they lead a peaceful lifestyle. I like the sound of that.

Finn, I'm a bit blind with Adventure Time since I only watch random eps when it's on, but you saying he's stoic threw me off a bit because I guess I kind of imagine drywalls being described as stoic. And there were also a lot of things in your canon that did not match the sample. EITHER WAY, the voice was there, based from what I have seen of the series, at least.
