Character: Emily Jane Pitchiner AKA Mother Nature
Series: Guardians of Childhood/Rise of the Guardians
Character Age: a few hundred thousand years (give or take), appears mid-twenties.
Job: Climate Management

Canon: So you know how there's people who think that aliens did everything cool on Earth? Well, we're not saying that they're right but they're totally right as far as this series is concerned. No. Really. The Moon is a stranded spaceship and the Easter Bunny is a space alien that shaped the planet and made Australia.

Emily Jane is Mother Nature, not that she always was mind you. Long ago, longer than anyone cares to keep straight anymore, the evil Dream Pirates attacked her home in order to hurt her father and she survived even though her father thought her dead along with his wife who'd jumped from a window. She ended up adopted by the Constellation Typhan and he adopted her and taught her how to control storms and starlight, gravity and wind. She missed her dad though, and after long enough of him not showing up to rescue her she got mad and used her power kill a whole lot of people. That was a bad thing and broke every vow of the Colstellations and Typhan got pissed so he turned the moon she'd lived on in to a shooting star doomed to travel the heavens until she crashed. It eventually happened, when her star was attack by Pitch and she and the pilot (One Sanderson Mansnoozie, AKA Sandman) crashed to the waters of Earth below.

Emily Jane is shifting in her affections and vengeful in her wrath much like the storms she controls. She doesn't take nonsense from anyone but once her loyalty is gained she'll help you out. She is often mysterious, usually severe and doesn't see a problem with getting plants to strangle people that annoy her too much. She dislikes a lot of things, most of them named Pitch. Mind you she's also fiercely protective of him. Funny story that...

Sample Entry:

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
I am Mother Nature, what more do you need? I have fought in a war greater than any Earth has seen, sailed the cosmos and torn planets and ships apart with my power.

Why are you joining our happy community?
I did not entirely have a choice in the matter. Someone competent needs to keep a watch on my father, beyond that I can work most anywhere.

Did you expect some trite words about teaching children the wonders of nature and the majesty of wildlife? Nature is not some quaint tamed thing to be skipped through sniffing daisies and marveling at finches.

If there was a good dog and a criminal both hanging from a cliff and you could only save one, which would you save and why?
The cliff.

If you could get away with committing one crime and suffer absolutely no consequences, what would you do and why?
I would… go back and change the past, make his ship go faster, tell him it was a trick, or stop him from opening that door and--

There are always consequences, changing the past or even a small action now has vast repercussions in the future that few can predict.

Can you perform a flawless headshot? If not, and if your life depended on it, how many hours a week would you be willing to spend on the shooting range?
Hah, I do it regularly to people who decide to stand out in the open during a thunderstorm. I don't need a shotgun to strike a man dead in seconds.

What is your job here at CFUD? What do you think that means?
Climate Management. It means, essentially, that I can make it hail for a week straight if someone does something especially foolish or end storms that others begin.

Would you be able to dispose of the flesh of the undead? How?
Of course, Flesh eating beetles… or fire.

Do you have a five year plan in mind?
Five years is a rather short amount of time to work within, I tend more towards five decade plans.

What would you consider to be your “soul” animal and why? (this is for purely scientific purposes and will not have consequences during your stay at all. Trust us! :))
I have often been attached symbolically to the butterfly, so I suppose that is as good of one as any as far as Earth's wildlife is concerned.

I'm rather fond of Star Fish however, they're from space and have no relation to the spiny things in Earth's seas.

What was your relationship with your parents like?
My mother leapt to her death when I was a child and my father would rather terrorize children and gallivant about with shadows than remember me properly. What do you think it's like?

Character: Alison Hendrix
Series: Orphan Black
Character Age: 28
Job: PTA Representative

Canon:
The night Sarah Manning returns to try and get her daughter and life back in order, she witnesses the suicide-by-train of her doppleganger. Seeing this as an opportunity of sorts, Sarah adopts this new “Beth” identity to try and nab some easy cash, but finds herself embroiled in mysterious circumstances when more women who look exactly like Sarah warn her that they are all part of an illegal cloning experiment and others like them are being killed off one by one. Together with her newfound “sisters”, Sarah pursues answers regarding their origin, their purpose, and what the future has in store for them.

Alison is an uptight, soccer mom whose fishbowl suburban lifestyle of constant scrutiny has led her to being incredibly image-conscious, overbearing, and indignantly bristly at any criticism. She is horrified to discover that she is part of a cloning experiment and is torn between wanting answers and wanting to live in complete denial. Devoted to her family and desperate to protect her children and the status quo, Alison’s control freak tendencies become magnified as she feels like she’s watching her life of domestic normalcy crumble around her. Already somewhat judgmental and haughty, she becomes increasingly paranoid to the point of distrusting everyone around her including her loser husband and scheming best friend, and her drastic and dramatic actions regarding these suspicions lead to her life spiraling out of her control in hilariously tragic ways. Despite all this, Alison does her best to help out her fellow clones - with some prodding - even though all she really wants is to wake up from this nightmare and have her normal life back again.

The only way to do this kind of thing is to make two lists outlining the positives and negatives. And can I just say that the positives list? Has exactly four words written under it, and those four words are “No, no, and NO!” As for the negatives list, I don’t even know where to start.

Firstly the name. “Camp ‘Eff You Die”?! I mean, good Lord! This is supposed to be a children’s camp, can we at least show the illusion of restraint? These are young, impressionable minds that we’re entrusting to you! If I wanted to be scrubbing dirty words out of my children’s mouths with soap at the end of the summer, I might as well have just let them run wild in the streets, end up in juvie and save myself the money! And this Tuesday Mystery Soup is just a lawsuit waiting to happen! All it takes is for one or two kids with a lethal allergy to peanuts or crustaceans to experience some sort of anaphylactic crisis for all of our butts to be absolutely buried underneath the landside of litigation. No, from now on the menus are going to have to detail every single ingredient to be scrutinized and approved by the PTA. This is absolutely non-negotiable, are we clear? And don’t even get me started on your counselor selection process. I appreciate a good sense of humour as much as the next person, but we’re not looking for the next stand-up comedian so I’d think some sort of qualification in child care should be required! Even my regular babysitter has better credentials than most of your applicants!

And look, I get it. With the plethora of children’s summer camps popping up everywhere and vying for our patronage in this very crowded market, you’re going to want to do something to set yourself apart. But I’m going to strongly suggest that you rethink this whole “zombie camp with tentacle monsters” angle. It’s all fun and games until you trigger some poor child’s traumatic phobia and then you’ll be forking over the money for therapy sessions, believe me!

… okay, just… just stop crying. No one understands more than I do what it’s like to have everything you’ve worked so hard to create deflate around you like a poorly baked souffle, but you have to believe me when I say that these other women on the PTA? The word “mercy” is not even in their vocabulary. They will rip you to shreds and then hang you to dry for public humiliation, make no mistake! In fact, I bet those shrews picked this hellhole of a campground for me to assess specifically to embarrass me. Ha! Well if they think I’m just going to sit here and take it, then they have another think coming! I’ve watched “The Parent Trap” enough times to know how to cause chaos in a rival’s campsite, and those bitches won’t even know what hit them when I’m done with --!!

Ahem. Moving on, let’s discuss the introduction of campfire songs to the schedule. Maybe we can start with “Kumbaya”?

Mother Nature, I think that could have been longer? The deadpan in it is good so I gave it a wibbled in, but I think the app could have used more fleshing out.

Mother Nature, you talk a lot about stuff that happens to her in canon, but don't give a lot of info about how she is, and I found it really hard to get much of a voice out of your app. The answers are all really short, and while that could well be IC, I don't really have a way to check that, and I'm not canon familiar.

In on Alison, out on Mother Nature.

Mother Nature, your app seems really rushed, and I'm very confused by your whole canon section (I'm canon-blind)--I've re-read it several times and it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Echoing what Breeze's player said in that there's a lot about what happens in her canon and not much about her herself, as well.

All in.

Mother Nature, you could probably have explained the canon differently, since it'd be a bit confusing to non-familiars (as mentioned above), but you get a confidence in from me.

My in was for Alison and my out was for Mother Nature.

Mother Nature, I'm really confused! Your canon section plays very coy with the connection between Mother Nature and Pitch, who I assume has to be her father because otherwise nothing in the application makes sense. I'm not sure why you're being so coy about it! This is something you can probably deal with very quickly.

It's interesting because your app when it's not dealing with Pitch is actually quite snappy and interesting. "I have fought in a war greater than any Earth has seen, sailed the cosmos and torn planets and ships apart with my power." is a great opener, for example, and gives a sense of both grandeur and that this is one lady you don't want to mess with because she's done it all. "The cliff." was also a great line because it shows a kind of ruthlessness that you wouldn't expect. Unfortunately, that imperious voice drifts away throughout the app, and the end doesn't really live up to the voice in the first parts.

If you need to reapp and you choose to, I'd focus more on the parts that aren't about Pitch, as they're the ones that seem to be stronger, and put more into the canon section about what she sounds like. I can hear mercurial and terrifying at the beginning, but that's about the only time.

In on Alison, abstaining on Mother Nature.

Everyone else has voiced their opinions on the canon and app, so I'll just piggyback on its confusion and rushed feeling. And abstaining, because there is a voice, but I can't really check it, and the canon confused me too much.
