Character: L
Series: Death Note
Character Age: 25
Job: Camp Detective

Canon: What would you do if you could kill someone just by writing their name down in a special notebook? If you're Light Yagami, the "protagonist" of Death Note, you kill criminals and plot to create a new world order with it, of course. Diligent straight-A student by day and pen-wielding vigilante by night, Light's (anonymous) criminal murdering spree earns him the moniker "Kira" and has a global task force breathing down his neck. Light must work to stay one step ahead of them -- especially the de facto leader of the group, one of the world's greatest detectives who goes by the name of L. The series is a cat and mouse game between Light and L, where one wrong move equals death. Of course, the stakes only seem to encourage L.

To say L is a
little bit different from other people is an understatement. L is a world-renowned detective with a wicked sweet tooth, almost always seen perched over one file or another with a dessert in hand. Although he is incredibly intelligent, his social skills are lacking as he is blunt and makes no apologies for who he is. While L claims he is on the side of justice, he has no qualms putting certain people at risk for the greater good. He's willing to make sacrifices if the end justifies the means. In general, L is detached from most people, only really bonding with his assistant Watari. He isn't entirely serious though, and has been known to have a dry sense of humor. L can appear to be polite and comes across as well-spoken and intelligent, but he is, as he describes himself at one point, selfish and hates to lose. In the end, he's not so much concerned with catching Kira as he is solving the case and figuring out the puzzle that is Kira.

Note: to protect his identity, L never, ever gives out his real name, going under a number of pseudonyms.

Sample Entry:

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
You may call me Ryuuzaki.

. . . That was a few words.

Why are you joining our happy community?
I had heard of a fairly interesting murder that was under investigation here, where the victim was seen, and I quote, "prancing" around the site as though nothing had happened while in the meantime, hundreds were held under false pretenses. You could say I became curious about it. I've been looking for a challenge.

What is your job here at CFUD? What do you think that means?
As it so happens, I've been hired as a detective here, presumably to solve all of your camp's mysteries. I'm not too concerned -- there seems to be enough here to occupy my time. In addition to the case of the not-quite-dead fiance, there is the case of the quite dead denizens here. I find the explanation of "zombies" a bitter pill to swallow, but I suppose it's not the strangest thing I've heard lately. I'm also curious about this Tuesday's soup I've heard of, though I imagine that is in part related to your undead infestation. I did find a finger in my cake just a moment ago, which makes it mildly inedible. But only mildly, as it would be a shame to let a good cake go to waste.

If there was a good dog and a criminal both hanging from a cliff and you could only save one, which would you save and why?
First, I would have to question which one was which. We've called them the "good dog" and the "criminal," but what crime is he accused of? I'm curious. And of course, we have to consider the fact that a percentage of those "criminals" have been falsely accused of the crimes they have supposedly committed. Ah, much like many of those already here, come to think of it. Granted, that's generally less than one percent but that number is still greater than zero.

Furthermore, what kind of dog is it exactly? And is this a cliff over an ocean? The dog's survival rate may be greater than our alleged criminal depending on those factors. There isn't enough information here to draw a reasonable conclusion.

If you could get away with committing one crime and suffer absolutely no consequences, what would you do and why?
I wouldn't. You know that this is statistically impossible, don't you? All actions have consequences, whether they are immediately transparent or not. As an example, I may come to regret my "waste not want not" attitude regarding my now fingerless cake. As another example, you may come to regret falsely accusing and then imprisoning several hundred people with varying levels of power and ability here. Not today of course and perhaps not even tomorrow or next week, but I'd imagine that would come back around eventually. Just as an example.

Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
Of course. I'm an analytical thinker, which you appear to be lacking in around here. I can see things that others can't and given that, I would be able to manage a crisis with ease so long as others are willing to listen to me. And as long as I am able to concentrate, it wouldn't be a problem at all.

What if the crisis involved the reinstatement of the sugar ban? Please explain.
. . . Ah. Well then. That changes everything.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH L!!!!

oh man, that's an IN. your voice is astounding--I can hear his voice through the entire app. I love the last joke there, and the tongue-in-cheek bluntness in the third-to-last question is gr8. His logic and statistics feel real and spot-on. I had a lotta fun reading this app, good job!

And thank you for not overusing percentages like many Ls out there.
