Character: Urameshi Yusuke
Series: Yu Yu Hakusho (manga)
Character Age: 17
Canon: What happens when you die in such a sudden, uncharacteristically selfless way that there’s not actually space for you in the afterlife? For Yusuke, a self-proclaimed “ultimate super delinquent” and all-around temperamental punk, it means he gets a second chance--provided he’ll work as a Spirit World detective, ironing out hiccups in human-demon relations with diplomacy and grace (read: fists and also more fists). He agrees, and embarks on a journey of righteous face-punching, leveling up, friendship, and some good ol’ fashioned blood sport.
Luckily for the Spirit World, Yusuke is more than just an irreverent smart aleck. Underneath all the macho cockiness and bravado, he’s friendly, has a good sense of humor, is generally pretty laid back, and can (mostly) be counted on to do his job. He cares deeply about his friends, and ends up making good with more than half of his enemies, too--at the end of the day all he really wants is a good, fair fight, and for things in the human world to not to go to complete shit.

Urameshi Yusuke, former first class delinquent, part-time detective, and all around super guy at your service! I’m here to solve world hunger, bust skulls, eat a free meal or two--you know, all that good diplomatic crap.
Why are you joining our happy community?
Duty called, and it called waving an impressive wad of cash. Even hell runs on money, man. And hey, who am I to say no to a lady in need! So here I am, ready to party. Or spend a week trying to figure out what the hell is going on. One of those two, for sure!
What do you expect from the campers here?
Oh, shit! I forgot about that! Real kids, huh? I kinda figured the whole “summer camp” thing was a gimmick, what with the whole interdimensional clusterfuck look you’ve got going. Whatever! As long as they don’t get themselves killed, it’s all good. I’m not here to play babysitter, but what the hell! I’m always up for organizing an impromptu arm wrestling tournament. That should keep ‘em busy in a pinch! It’s never too early to learn how to place a smart bet, right?
What do you expect from the counselors?
Also not to get themselves killed! Really kind of a priority. For them, anyway. Or at least it should be! Dying sucks ass. Take it from me.
Have you committed any crimes you were or should have been convicted from?
Ha! What are you gonna do, call my ma? Look, I’m not trying to judge, but I’m thinkin’ you guys probably shouldn’t be hassling people about legality. Stones, glass house, let the asshole who is without sin cast the first lawsuit, yadda yadda yadda! The sooner we cut the bullshit, the sooner I can do my job.
Would you be able to dispose of the flesh of the undead? How?
To answer your question, let’s talk about able versus willing. You’ve got an--for the sake of your delicate sensibilities, let’s call it a certain undead aspect. Big deal! They’re not bothering anybody, right? No snatching purses from little old ladies or throwing bricks through windows? And even if some dumbass is too slow to powerwalk out of the way, the most they’re gonna get is a little gummy nibble, tops! Just think of ‘em as giant, ugly-ass squirrels. Harmless, kind of hairy, and a good reason to keep your dogs on a leash.
On the flip side, if you wanna up the ante a little and get on the undead army bandwagon, let me give you a pro tip. This one’s on the house! It’s called “dental insurance,” and they need it yesterday.
