Character: Komaeda Nagito
Series: Super Danganronpa 2
Character Age: ~17

Canon: Welcome to Jabberwock Island! We hope you enjoy your stay here, where there's magic, mystery, and murder! Super Danganronpa 2 focuses on 16 students from Hope's Peak Academy — the very best of the best, the "Ultimate" students — who were just supposed to be on a nice school trip on a nice tropical island. That is, until it was hijacked by Monokuma and turned into the Island Life of Mutual Killing. In other words: kill or be killed! The students must work together to uncover the mysteries of Monokuma and Jabberwock Island, all while trying not to turn on each other. After all, every time a murder is committed, a class trial is held and the students must decide who the culprit is. If they pick the wrong person, it's game over for everyone and the murderer is allowed to escape the island scot free. Needless to say, not everyone is clamoring to trust one another.

And then there's Komaeda Nagito. Initially, he comes off as a nice, polite boy with a keen eye for details. He can be resourceful during the class trials, using his observations to piece the cases together, and he genuinely
seems to want to help. There's just one problem: Komaeda is a tad ... unhinged. His idea of "helping"? Why, attempting to kill another student so that the others will have to work together to take him down, of course! Murder helps people bond, right? To him, despair is a tool that can cultivate hope and he's all too obsessed with that idea. He's only a little put out that the others don't see him for the helping helper that he is. Komaeda has a shrewd mind and always seems to know what to say to sway things his way, even when what he's saying is mildly deranged. While his methods may seem crazy, he really just wants to be a stepping stone for hope, especially given his belief that he's useless when compared to the other Ultimate students. While he has a host of self worth issues entirely too long for one canon section, the one thing Komaeda is confident of is his luck. Unlike the other students, Komaeda was selected by raffle to join Hope's Peak Academy, making him the Ultimate "Lucky Student." While his luck has seesawed back and forth throughout his life -- which has in turn greatly impacted his world view -- he believes that his luck will, in the end, help him and everyone else out. If only his definition of "help" lined up with everyone else's ...

note: Komaeda is being pulled from before the fourth class trial. There are [MASSIVE RUINOUS GAME SPOILERS] that occur later in the game, but not much about Komaeda's character changes as a result. [He can be arrogant and dismissive towards people he deems unworthy, but it takes a specific set of circumstances to get there and it's not something that comes up right away necessarily.] His crazy train has no breaks, he just shifts it down a different track.

Sample Entry:

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
Who, me? Ha ha! Well, it's nice to meet you but we don't need to waste more than a few words on me. I'm Komaeda Nagito. ... You really wanted a few more? Well, I'm known as the Ultimate Lucky Student but I guess since I'm doing this interview with a zombie holding a shotgun to my neck, I'm not so lucky after all, am I?

Why are you joining our happy community?
You asked me to, of course! Though there wasn't a lot of asking going on here with the whole zombie with a shotgun situation. Maybe that's a local custom? Hmm. Still, how could I refuse something like that?

If there was a good dog and a criminal both hanging from a cliff and you could only save one, which would you save and why?
I'd reach for the criminal first. After all, the good dog is watching all of this, right? Do you think that when he sees me reaching for the bad guy, he'll fall into despair and let go? Or do you think he'll have a surge of hope well in him from that despair, causing him to make a leap of faith back up from the edge? I don't know either, but it sure sounds exciting!

If you could get away with committing one crime and suffer absolutely no consequences, what would you do and why?
You're asking me this? Well, of course not! If I were to commit a crime, there's no way someone as useless as I am would be able to get away with no consequences. Oh, but if I were to commit a crime, I'd probably do something that would help everyone else band together against me. That's a hopeful image right there, don't you think? Everyone bonding with each other, learning to trust one another ... it's pretty great! I don't think petty theft would get me there. I guess I've got no choice but to kill someone, huh? That'd get people motivated fast.

Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
Not in the slightest, ha ha. Like I said, I'm pretty useless when it comes to things like that. I'm nothing compared to some of the others that are out there. You know, people who are worth something! I guess I'd be okay cannon fodder though knowing my luck, I'd manage to mess that one up by not dying properly. I could be a motivator! After all, I think I've been doing a good job so far with this interview. Don't you?

Do you really think that zombie behind you will shoot you in the face?
This guy? Oh, not at all! You know, I could tell just by looking at it that the shotgun had jammed a long time ago. He couldn't have shot me at point blank range even if he wanted to! I wasn't really worried about that at all. Oh hey, I guess that means I'm a pretty lucky guy after all, huh?

Character: Stanford Pines aka "Grunkle Stan"
Series: Gravity Falls
Character Age: Old as balls
Counselor Job Camp Shop Owner

Canon: Deep in the wilds of Portland, Oregon is a place called Gravity Falls. Sent there for the summer by their parents, Dipper and Mabel Pines learn first-hand that Gravity Falls holds many mysteries and adventures. Though nothing quite as mysterious as their weird great-uncle Stan who owns a totally legitimate shop selling trinkets and merchandise to the tourists.

"Totally legitimate" may be a bit strong. Stan tends to pull the wool over people's eyes with his extravagant yarns and gift of laying it thick for unsuspecting customers. Greedy, rude and cantankerous at times, Stan could care less about people's opinions so long as they paid him. With a tendency to lie and cheat his way through life, Stan seems to only care about himself first and foremost. But he does care about his family, the Mystery Shack and his employees (kind of). Gruff, blunt and utterly shameless, Stanford Pines is an excellent role model for small children and always does the right thing . . eventually. Maybe. Probably?

Sample Entry:

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
Hello folks, my name is Stanford Pines and I'm here to run the wholesome camp shop with wholesome goods like . . . guns and bullets and medical supplies? Oy, what kind of messed up place is this? I mean, I'm not complaining but can kids even pay for this stuff? Because I'm not giving discounts unless there's a zombie apocalypse. And even then, I expect a 10% interest rate if you survive!

Ahem. Where was I . . . Oh, right, I run your shop! Ha ha, tough luck getting things for free now. Hahahaha -- ow my back. Why does maniacal laughter always stab me this way?!

Why are you joining our happy community?
Happy? You call this happy? You people have no idea how the dollar works, not to mention your bizarre trade and barter system, which you apparently call "freebies". This place is a menace to proper society and culture! And by culture, I mean the American art of the scam. No real American would give away things for free without expecting something in return. It's just not done.

You may call this Paradise, I call it no concept of how the world works. Good luck adjusting to real life once you leave this place and don't say I didn't warn you! Actually, say that so I get to say "I told you so". I love doing that. It's like an automatic mood-riser for the elders.

What do you expect from your camp experience?
A steady cash flow and people who can't leave and have to pay off their debts to me - I mean, to society.

Oh, wait, you meant emotionally. Uh. Yay forced bonding and starting camp fires! That . . . is what kids do in camps, right? As long as I don't get to it, that's what I expect from my camp experience. Yeesh. Who willingly volunteers for this? Besides bleeding hearts.

Do you find these questions increasingly unnerving? Why/Why not?
Nah, these are pretty okay. Now if you were a tax collector, that would make this unnerving.

If there was a good dog and a criminal both hanging from a cliff and you could only save one, which would you save and why?
The dog. Because he can pay me back using his ultimate power. His undeniable pet cuteness. And with his adorable puppy dog eyes and lovable barks, the people of this place will be helpless before me, letting me rake in the goods! Ka-ching baby!

Oh, and Mabel would never forgive me if I didn't save the dog, so. That counts.

If you could get away with committing one crime and suffer absolutely no consequences, what would you do and why?
That's like asking someone what they want for Christmas. There are just so many options to choose from.

Have you committed any crimes you were or should have been convicted from?
What are you, a cop?! I was promised no cops in this place! That's the whole reason I came to this dump - I mean, this charming little summer camp. Anyway, where's your warrant? I have rights, you know! And I'm going to use my right to remain silent and deny anything and everything you have heard! Or didn't hear! In fact, I deny every being here.

Are you lying on your previous answer?
I was never here.
