Character: Hunter
Series: Morning Glories
Character Age: 16
Canon: From the outside, Morning Glory Academy looks like any other prestigious boarding school, with its bright, engaging students and beautifully maintained campus. It's not until you get a good look inside that you realize what's actually going on: teachers torturing students in creative and horrible ways, a mysterious entity that can kill with a touch, and a time-traveling guidance counselor, among other bizarre activities. Now it's up to six new students, all of whom share the same birthday, to uncover the truth behind the school - and try to escape with their lives.
A little geeky, a little awkward, Hunter is the group's pop culture enthusiast. He comes from a broken family and has a distant, uninvolved father, but despite this, Hunter tends to be optimistic, curious and friendly. Though he's perfectly ready to admit when a situation seems bizarre, he tends to try and focus on the good - assuming there's some good to be found, of course. Always willing to help a friend, Hunter is determined and dedicated, especially when things get serious, but for the most part he comes across as simply a normal, if geeky, kid - one who awkwardly quotes from various video games, TV shows, comics and movies and who has a tendency to ramble on about things when he gets nervous.

So, hey, how can you tell when a zombie's really tired? When he's dead on his feet! Get it?
—Okay, no, that was terrible. Let's start over. I'm Hunter, and I'm... totally not prepared for this job at all. I mean, last time I was walking around the bayou with a shotgun, I was playing Left 4 Dead 2, so you can see why this is a weird thing for me. But despite the locale, the fact that this place is somehow creepier than a boarding school run by cultists, and the complete and utter lack of communication from the Director, I'm gonna be the best counselor-in-training you kids have ever had. Well, I'm gonna do my best, anyway. And—all that yawning is probably a cue for me to stop introducing myself and start the tour, huh?
Now over here we've got your typical camp mess hall and arts and crafts hut—could be boring, but luckily for all of us I found a crochet pattern so we can all make our own weighted companion cubes—but on the pamphlet I was given, there's a little asterisks thing that says there should be an entrance to the Caves of Despair nearby? And, whoa, as far as I’m concerned, that’s the main thing we should be talking about here. I wasn't told that this job would involve spelunking or despair, and both of those things are things that I suck at. I guess we’ll just make the most of it, right? And I—I mean spelunking in the literal sense, obviously. Anyone using their phone to go to urbandictionary isn't going to get the crochet pattern I was talking about earlier!
You know, speaking of dictionaries, when I was ten and hadn't figured out how terrible I am when it comes to camping or spending time outdoors, I asked my parents to send me to summer camp. And, see, I'm from Canada, and funny story, it turns out that my dad actually signed me up for this language study camp by accident. Or maybe on purpose, I dunno. But anyway, I was expecting the great outdoors and instead I got "exciting cultural excursions," which is just another way of saying "we got to go to downtown Montreal for an afternoon and we spent the rest of the time speaking terrible French and gesturing a lot while we made lanyards." But I've been thinking, and this is Louisiana, and people speak French here, so maybe the language study camp is gonna come in handy after all. Everyone, stay away from... du lac? There was... une créature, et... you know what, never mind. The point is, even when a situation seems shitty, like you're stuck in a summer camp that's also a swamp and your CIT has no idea what he's doing, something good might come out of it. Someday.
Holy crap, looks like I just rambled through most of our allotted tour time. Uh, quick, let's just finish up by heading over to the hospital, and... wow, big building. Jesus, multiple wards? What kinds of injuries are people getting here? Okay, I'm gonna be honest and admit I don't know how to sell this to you guys. All I can say is that those swamp roots must be killer and that maybe the warning I gave about the lake wasn't as far fetched as it seemed originally. But try to put on a brave face. You know what they say—fear turns to anger, anger turns to hate, hate turns to suffering... and I really don't think we wanna find out what brand of suffering this place is capable of bringing us.
Character: Jade Ellsworth
Series: Morning Glories
Character Age: 16
Canon: Morning Glories tells the story of Morning Glory Academy, a prestigious boarding school with deadly plots, mysterious underground dungeons, supernatural elements, and oddly enough, students all sharing the same birthday. Six new students have just arrived and are already questioning why they’re really there as they encounter the less than welcoming faculty, whose questionable teaching methods force them to not only work for their grades, but also for their lives. The staff may try to reassure new students that they are there “For a Better Future,” but these newcomers consider the only better future to be one where they’ve escaped.
Prone to dramatics, emotional breakdowns and a sullen nature, Jade is the new student having the hardest time adjusting to life at Morning Glory Academy. Even before her arrival, tragic events in her recent past had transformed her from a sweet young girl to an angry and depressed teenager. Being experimented on within days of her arrival and only surviving due to a daring rescue by her classmates couldn’t have helped, and now Jade’s burdened with nightmares, visions of her own future, and what she believes to be a divine message telling her that she has to die- a message she has come to firmly buy into. At times, Jade can be dependent on those around her, but she’s not afraid to speak her mind when it really matters, often to the point of losing her composure. When she does choose to speak her mind some would rather not listen, for she has the tendency to focus on her complaints and the ever-growing list of ways her life sucks. Jade is not the easiest person to befriend, but she is loyal to the friends she has, having a great deal of faith in them and helping them when she can. Jade’s certainly troubled, but when her defenses are down there are hints of her past happier self, lying just below the surface.

What do I have in common with zombies like you? Turns out that it’s a lot. Especially considering the zombies at this camp. They say you’ve been trapped here seven years? I know exactly how you feel. Try being trapped somewhere for sixteen. That’s how long it took me to get out of my hometown and you’ve got to be almost as miserable here as I was back there. And just as misunderstood. To be honest, even I misjudged you. You see my only experiences with zombies are the ones I’ve seen in horror movies and they paint a totally different picture. You’re far from the terrorizing creatures they depict. You’re more like outcasts and I know what that’s like. Believe me, you don’t have to be a zombie to not belong. I’m living proof of it.
Sure, there are some obvious differences. First of all, I’m a vegan, so don’t expect me to follow your all-brain diet. And I’ve luckily managed to keep all my limbs, despite some people’s efforts. I’m also a whole lot easier to kill, so I’m hoping that shotgun I received isn’t part of everyone’s welcome package. But even with those differences, I can guarantee that my life sucks just as much as yours and that is definitely something we can bond over. And bonding’s what summer camp’s supposed to be about, right?
Whoa, wait, dudes, stay right where you are! Or maybe back up just a little. Because if your idea of bonding is making me your next meal, I have to pass. There’s a difference between dead and undead, and the message I’ve been getting has said absolutely nothing about the latter, so I dunno where you got the idea that I’d be okay with joining you permanently! I’m not, okay?! There’s only so much I can take and actually being a zombie is so far beyond what I can handle. And just to make this completely clear, it’s not that I want to die; I have to. You would think that even without brains, it wouldn’t be too much to ask for someone to understand the difference!
Did you just tell me to pull myself together? You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. You’re the ones losing limbs here! Besides this is definitely something worth panicking over! I’m not the one being unreasonable here. I’m trying to be sympathetic here and honestly, I expected some sympathy in return, since you know, I’m sure you’ve got just as much to complain about as me. I even thought we could be friends. It looks like you’ve been here awhile, and my friends back home aren’t exactly the type to leave me here for long. I would have tried to convince them to get us all out of here if I thought I could trust you guys. But it looks like misery only loves company to a certain extent, and you’re only interested in my brain. Since that’s the case, I’m thinking my misery is better off on its own.
Character name: Giou Yuki
Series: Betrayal Knows My Name (Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru)
Age: 15
Canon: For thousands of years, members of the Giou clan have been blessed by god with demon-fighting powers, which they use to keep the world as we know it from being destroyed. The twist? It's always the same people. Reincarnated whenever the demons become too restless, this small band of comrades have only hazy memories of their past lives which emerge slowly, along with their rightful powers.
For 15 years, Sakurai Yuki thought he was an unwanted orphan. Then he was rediscovered by his true family, and everything changed. Yuki is in fact a powerful member of the Giou clan, and has been for many lifetimes. He alone holds the power to heal his comrades, at the cost of bearing their pain. For this reason he is considered to be an invaluable resource, a fact that he has trouble accepting since he spent so many years alone and in the process managed to grow a substantial inferiority complex. Driven by the desire to be needed, Yuki is outwardly optimistic and inwardly devoted. Although he tends to be hyper-critical of himself and his motives, he’s a loving person who just wants to be loved in return. An empathetic personality to the core, he’s willing to do anything to help others, and is surprisingly determined, courageous and capable considering that he still hasn’t regained any memories of past battles— or for that matter, his personal history. (Though when it comes to past lives, “her” personal history would be more accurate.)
Sample Post:
Welcome, everybody. My name is Giou Yuki, and I’m here to give you all a lesson on “how to become a new man in just one easy step.” Thank you very much for having me here today as your special guest speaker.
... it’s funny to start off in such a completely normal way, isn’t it? Actually, I think the circumstances are anything but ordinary. Not just because I’m a human and you’re a band of gorillas, either. That doesn’t really make a difference because I’m sure you’re every bit as smart as I am, or you wouldn’t be standing here listening to me. But since that’s the case, I hope you’ll hear me out.
I’ve been told that I’m not supposed to make any changes to the speech I’ve been given, and that if I can manage to keep quiet and do my job I’ll be allowed to go back home again. But as much as I’d like to do that— even knowing that everybody needs me there —I can’t allow myself to be such a coward. The truth is that I’ve been kidnapped, and something tells me that all of you are in the same situation. Not only that, but I think you must have been here for a while. From what I’ve seen, I can’t believe you were ever really given a chance to leave. You’re trapped, aren’t you? If I’m right, please help me. Let’s all band together and do something about it. Let’s fight to free everybody. Personally, I’ve already made my decision. Even if the Director actually kept her end of the bargain and told me I could leave right now, I’d refuse to go home. I won’t stir another step until I’m sure that everyone else is here of their own free will, and I hope you’ll all agree to do the same.
... um, anybody? Yes! You there, in the back? No ... ? O—oh, I see. So you were just picking something out of your friend’s fur after all.
Maybe I shouldn’t be so surprised that your situation is completely different. Even if you aren’t local, this really is your home, isn’t it. In that case, I apologize for my outburst. But it’s good to know that you’re all so happy here! Even if I’m kind of embarrassed, at least now I can give this speech my all without any regrets. Although, before I begin the lesson, I just have to say that I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you as you are now. But if you do want learn to walk like me and talk like me too, then I’ll be cheering you on. I'm sure you can learn to be someone just like me.
Character: Luka Crosszeria (Zess)
Series: Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru
Character Age: Looks between ~18-20
Canon: Amidst a battle lasting over thousands of years, there is one clan that has fought to protect humanity from the demons that threaten to destroy it. Those of the Giou have been blessed with god-like powers, and the ability to reincarnate to ensure that no matter how long the war rages, they’ll always be around to stop it.
Luka is a high ranking demon who sided with the humans in the previous fight because he fell in love with one of the Giou named Yuki. In general, Luka is pretty quiet and reserved. Indifferent to most of the goings-on around him, he’s content to sit in the background and watch. This gives him a bit of a mysterious air, which is only fueled by his otherworldly good looks and cool demeanor, terrible gothic fashion sense notwithstanding. He also has a very small understanding of human customs and traditions which leads to a lot of confusion on his part. This also occasionally makes him come across as much harsher than he intends because of his straightforwardness. He’s not a bad guy for a demon though, and he’s absolutely loyal to his master even after all these years. He has vowed to never betray Yuki and will always be by his side.

When that jerk of a leader sent me off to America to investigate a few rumors about a large number of zombies convening together, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I was hoping it would turn out to be a fast job, however it doesn’t seem like that’ll be the case. Especially not since a particularly baffling mob seems to have taken me in. At first I couldn’t hear anything over the garbled shrieking, but I’ve gotten used to it. I know it was mentioned that communication might be an issue because of rotting tongues, but being around this group, I really don’t think that’s the case since they seem pretty chatty.
Ever since I started living in the human world, I’ve learned that girls have a tendency to swarm and ask inane questions, but this is the first time I’ve ever felt like I was going to be attacked. At least that was what I thought initially anyway since they are undead. They kept saying my brain would probably taste as good as Edward’s, but since his is the one they really want to eat, they’re “saving themselves.” Apparently they got the idea of restraint from him, which is good because I’d have to strike them down if they seriously went after me. They don’t generally seem like they’re bad zombies, although the more time I’ve spent around them, the more confused I’ve become. They’ve started grabbing at my clothes and wanting to touch my teeth and asking if my skin sparkles like diamonds in the sunlight. That’s not physically possible for humans, so why would mine be able to? One even asked if I had picked up my outfit at Hot Topic. I didn’t know how to answer her since I didn’t know what the topic was in the first place. Girls really are such bizarre creatures.
But I see obsession isn’t a feeling or an idea that’s just limited to one species. It’s something that we demons can experience, although I’ve never met a more rabid lot than this. This Edward guy is must be ranked pretty high in the human world, huh? Apparently these girls are a part of his team too, which seems like it’s a pretty big deal. I don’t see any sports equipment around, so I don’t really get what they’re supposed to being doing. They keep wanting to make me their representative, and I keep telling them that the only team I’m on is Yuki’s. I’ll have to ask him what an OC is next time I see him because the girls got all pissed off when I said that and starting spouting nonsense about inserting characters that didn’t belong into an already perfect story.
Still, I’ve never seen a more devoted group. They have a poster that they touch and talk to. The ones missing limbs do their best to reach it too. They’ve also put a lot of time and effort into making hundreds of necklaces and bracelets with this guy’s face on them as proof of their love. I can commend them on their dedication even if I disagree with their taste.
Now if only they’d stop sitting around debating the pros and cons of watching someone sleep. This is one of the few things they’ve talked about that I can actually understand, but someone mentioned an upcoming battle, and this isn’t the way to prepare yourself for one. Not that it’s any of my business. I just know from experience how dangerous werewolves can be.
Character: Hildegard von Krone
Series: Soulcalibur
Character Age: 18
Canon: The forces of chaos and order are manifested in this world in the forms of two swords of great power, seeking out fitting hosts to wield them and spread their will throughout existence. Some wish to claim the swords for their own; others to destroy them. But no one will ever truly see the end of the struggle over these cursed blades... unless Namco has decided you won’t buy any more sequels.
During one of the periods of great chaos these forces have created throughout history, the influence of the dark sword Soul Edge drove the king of a land called Wolfkrone into madness, and his daughter, still a child at the time, was forced to grow up early and take the throne as savage armies invaded her kingdom on their rampage across Europe. Now grown into a strong and confident young woman, Hilde is the type to hold honor and righteousness above all other traits to strive for. She’s well-spoken and polite in the formal way her station dictates, but she is also acutely aware of her many responsibilities and has little patience for silly distractions, acting with a very no-nonsense attitude that can make her come across as stubborn and overly severe. All of this comes from a place of compassion though, because Hilde cares about her people more than anything else and has the determination to do anything and everything in her power to help them. Even if that means putting on a suit of armor and going to defeat Soul Edge herself.
Sample Post:
It’s unfortunate that our Lady Director was unable to meet me upon my arrival. I would like to have had the chance to speak with her about her rather aggressive recruiting tactics, as well as her enthusiastic security force. They are not apes to take no for an answer it seems, and neither part of that statement is by any means an exaggeration. On the list they referred me to, rule number three for their code of professional conduct was in fact, “No means yes. Always.” And I would rather not go into the other rules if at all possible. Many were significantly more vile or inane.
But no matter the number of times I explained that I was Lady Sayre’s guest, these insolent beasts assured me that I was not myself, and in actuality I was a silly bear who’d had a shave and taken off her fur coat. Taking into account their poor understanding of biology and stubborn insistence on these delusional ramblings, it quickly became obvious that I would get nowhere arguing my point any longer and simply decided to move on, allowing them to “release me into the forest where I belonged.” With the other bears.
With determination however and a map that had been... appropriated, shall we say, from the guards, I was able to make my way with little trouble. At least until I reached the campground itself. The placement of the structures on the map appeared to shift at the convenience of some mystical force, and several seemed even to blink in and out of existence, as if their presence was suddenly forgotten or remembered and some unintelligible shorthand would appear merely labeled “retcon.” To believe time and space themselves to be so flexible would be just short of madness; however once again I received neither aid nor clarification from what few of Lady Sayre’s churlish underlings I could locate.
So here I find myself, imploring you people of this... Mess Hall, seeking your aid in orienting myself and finding the ear of the Director as soon as is possible. I have come to this land upon insistent request, to entreat with her on the creation of an alliance that will benefit both my people and yours, and after having seen the conditions here, it’s clear to me that it would be in your best interests to facilitate the making of some much-needed changes. Especially in regards to the discipline and honorable conduct of that woman's subordinates. So please, if you have anything to say on the matter, do speak up.
...no, I can assure you, young lady, that I am not in fact a “sucker.”
